Hello! I noticed your contributions and wanted to welcome you to the Wikipedia community. I hope you like it here and decide to stay. You are welcome to edit anonymously; however, creating an account is free and has several benefits (for example, the ability to create pages, upload media and edit without one's IP address being visible to the public).

Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia, and thank you for your contributions. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, please note that there is a Manual of Style that should be followed to maintain a consistent, encyclopedic appearance. Deviating from this style, as you did in Flag of Tanzania, disturbs uniformity among articles and may cause readability or accessibility problems. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Reverting as per MOS:LEADSENTENCE & unexplained removal of a wikilink. If this is a shared IP address, and you did not make the edits referred to above, consider creating an account for yourself or logging in with an existing account so that you can avoid further irrelevant notices.

Information icon Please do not use styles that are nonstandard, unusual, inappropriate or difficult to understand in articles, as you did in Flag of Cameroon. There is a Manual of Style, and edits should not deliberately go against it without special reason. See MOS:LEADSENTENCE. Peaceray (talk) 20:10, 9 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Warning icon Please stop. If you continue to use disruptive, inappropriate or hard-to-read formatting, as you did at Flag of Togo, you may be blocked from editing. There is a Wikipedia Manual of Style, and edits should not deliberately go against it without special reason. See MOS:LEADSENTENCE. Peaceray (talk) 20:12, 9 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I tried to create a consistency within the articles of flags, take the article for the flag of Zambia for example, I tried to change the lead from flag of X to national flag of X, just like articles of the flags of the US, Germany, France, Spain or the UK, but okay then. 2804:14C:55:8D94:7C28:CC10:D308:E52A (talk) 20:39, 9 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I also removed the wikilinks of the countries, like [[Tanzania|United Republic of Tanzania]] to just United Republic of Tanzania, following the same logic I used for the lead 2804:14C:55:8D94:D487:9EAD:F923:81E0 (talk) 23:18, 9 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Failure to adhere to the Manual of Style creates inconsistency. Do not arbitrarily remove Wikilinks. Peaceray (talk) 05:27, 10 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I see that your IP is in Brazil. Perhaps you are used to editing the Portuguese language Wikipedia. Here on this Wikipedia, you must abide by the Manual of Style. Removing italics from the article title in the lead sentence will get you reverted virtually every time.
Note that any further disruptive editing will certainly result in this IP being blocked for a while. I would recommend reading WP:BRD. Try discussing the removal of Wikilinks on the talk page before attempting to arbitrarily remove them. Peaceray (talk) 06:10, 10 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Being honest with you, the Portuguese wiki banned IPs some 2 years ago, so I just moved to the English wiki (I had already edited a few times prior), I like consistency, so when I saw that the lead for the article of the US flag lacks a wikilink in the infobox and is "national flag of X" rather than flag of X, I tried to do something that in my opinion was a helpful edit, but okay then. 2804:14C:55:8D94:D549:2909:BDB4:9BB6 (talk) 17:43, 12 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Changing flag of X to national flag of X is inconsistent with the MOS:LEADSENTENCE since it removes the bold text. I have repeatedly warned you about this, & you have never responded about this.
Regarding WP:OVERLINK removals, how was I to know, as you refrained from mentioning this in the edit summary? Peaceray (talk) 18:15, 12 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I edited the articles one by one and you say that you warned me progressively as I edited, if you just wanted to say that I was violating MOS you could have just made one single warning and just blocked me as you reverted all of my edits at once, so in this case the number of times you warned me does not really matter as all the times you warned me were with the exact same warning.
WP:OVERLINK could've be understood if you just simply compared them with any article that has high-traffic (like the US flag).
If changing "flag of X" to "national flag of X" is inconsistent with MOS, that means that leads of several articles (e.g. Germany, France, Spain, Russia, Japan, Canada, Italy) are actually violating MOS 179.208.107.64 (talk) 20:08, 12 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yep, I warned you many times because you seemed to ignore the first warning(s). Repeated warnings are a quick way for administrators to gauge how much damage a particular editor is doing by disruptive editing. It is arguable whether or not I went overboard after the fifth warning, & I did stop warning you after a while of continuing to revert. It is also important for an administrator to see if there has been disruptive editing after a fourth or final warning.
I have thousands of pages on my watch list & may revert dozens of edits per day. This is what I see in a diff. It is not my responsibility to meticulously examine the before & after of an edit if the diff looks like it is a problem. That is why an edit summary is necessary. BTW, the diff I include was a case when you were arbitrarily removing wikilinks & not a case of overlinking. If I see a pattern of disruptive editing, you better believe that I am going to act quickly & not dilly-dally by carefully meticulously examining each of your edits. It is your obligation to fill out the edit summary if you want someone to understand the purpose of your edit at a glance. Arguing that editors should do a careful side-by-side comparison to determine your purpose is a non-starter.
I would recommend that you read the WP:WHATABOUTX essay. To argue that something that is not in compliance with the Manual of Style to justify you own noncompliance is also a non-starter. It would be far better if you did edit those articles to bring them into compliance, & to state your purpose while linking to MOS:LEADSENTENCEin the edit summary. Peaceray (talk) 20:45, 12 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
K, all of this made me lose interest so gonna stop edit Wikipedia for some time, if I make an account I won't probably frequently do something bold at most degree, and you probably already know by this point but me and 179.208.107.64 are the same person. 2804:14C:55:8D94:8C08:2A98:C91D:621 (talk) 21:24, 12 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I am not trying you to lose interest, but rather to learn & pay attention to how things work around here & to summarize your edits. Peaceray (talk) 21:49, 12 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I will reply one last time.
I am not trying you to lose interest, the seventeen warnings below really don't help, BTW you forgot Flag of Angola.
but rather to learn & pay attention to how things work around here & to summarize your edits, then as I had said before, you could've just one simple warning (like: I reverted all of your edits because they violated MOS:LEADSENTENCE, please summarize your edits, or anything with this type of idea), that would work far better for me and I would've actually started summarizing, rather than 3 billion warnings. 2804:14C:55:8D94:541B:C2DD:FAB5:F23E (talk) 23:11, 12 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. I noticed a recent edit you made does not have an edit summary. You can use the edit summary field to explain your reasoning for an edit, or to provide a description of what the edit changes. Summaries save time for other editors and reduce the chances your edit will be misunderstood. For some edits a summary may be quite brief.

The edit summary field looks like this:

Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)

Please provide an edit summary for every edit you make. With a Wikipedia account you can give yourself a reminder to add an edit summary by setting Preferences → Editing → check Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary, and then click the "Save" button. Thanks!
