Your edits on ‘ Telford Shopping Centre’ have been undone![edit]

I’ve noticed you have been maintaining a store directory list for Telford Shopping Centre. Unfortunately, despite your best intentions, this is against the best practices of WP:NOT, I would particularly like to draw your attention to bullet point 6 of WP:NOTDIRECTORY which outlines scenarios where listicles for businesses are unsuitable.

Listicles for businesses are generally unsuitable because the information requires constant updating, which isn’t always possible, and more importantly in the vast majority of cases the information is taken directly from the businesses / shopping centres website - in which case that should already be linked within the main info box.

Please refrain from restoring the list of stores, or adding any further ones within any other articles you edit. If you have any questions feel free to reply to this comment. GeekBurst (talk) 06:12, 13 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

sorry I probably should've done more research before making such a big silly massive list, thank you for telling me I appreciate it. Adzri64 (talk) 10:53, 13 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

County flags[edit]

Hi Adzri64,

I appreciate what you're doing with the county flags, but unfortunately they do not represent the ceremonial counties of England and so shouldn't be used in the infoboxes of the articles about those counties. Most of the flags represent the Historic counties of England, and the ones associated with the metropolitan counties others are banners of arms of their former county councils and don't represent the county in general. The historic county flags are usually included in the body of the relevant ceremonial county article, for example Herefordshire#Emblems.

Cheers, A.D.Hope (talk) 16:32, 28 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I had seen they were used in different language versions of the pages so I thought they would be fine, sorry, does that mean that most of the ceremonial counties simply don't have flags? Adzri64 (talk) 16:34, 28 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, the Flag Institute is our primary source for the county flags and they only register flags for the historic counties. I know it can seem silly not to use the flag when the ceremonial and historic counties have very similar boundaries (e.g. Shropshire), but in a lot of cases the two counties have different boundaries (e.g. Lancashire) and so it's best not to conflate them. Including the flag in the body is fine, though, A.D.Hope (talk) 17:06, 28 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
ok, thank you for being so nice about it, I understand now :) Adzri64 (talk) 18:32, 28 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
No worries. The English counties are far more complicated than they should be and you were clearly acting in good faith, so it's absolutely fine. Truth be told flags aren't an entirely settled issue, but nearly all the counties don't currently have flags so for consistency's sake it's probably best to keep it that way.
If you ever need help there are guidelines over at WP:UKGEO, or you can ask on the project talk page :) A.D.Hope (talk) 20:04, 28 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah I understand, sorry again, have a nice rest of your day :) Adzri64 (talk) 21:32, 28 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
