Rape kit[edit]

Hi, I received a notification that you had taken content from a previously published source and published it to rape kit, specifically this website. This is seen as a copyright violation and plagiarism, even if you were to use the source as a citation. The general rule of thumb with content is to always assume that it's copyrighted in a way that would prohibit its use on Wikipedia unless it's clearly marked as falling into the public domain or under a compatible Creative Commons license. I've removed the content from the article as a result.

Something else to take into consideration is that in many cases content would need to be re-written in order to remove any non-neutral language, so the material would have to be re-written. Also, be cautious with what you use as a source in general. While I agree with what End the Backlog is trying to do, the page you took the material from doesn't cite its sources - something that's important in general, but especially with a controversial, hot button topic like this one. Always make sure that you're using the best possible sourcing, which will almost always be academic and scholarly sourcing because of the rigorous editorial oversight it undergoes.

I would like for you to re-review the module on plagiarism. I'm also pinging your professors: Mts6432, Needlesandpins. Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 14:30, 27 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
