Assignment 3 Some Topics that i am Considering are: Identity Negotiation Theory Stranger Theory Genderlect Theory Standpoint Theory

Assignment 5 The Article that i am going to be editing will be genderlict theory, i added 4 sources to the talk page

Assignment 6

Adding two paragraphs to sandbox about Genderlect Theory primarily focusing on how men and women communicate differently. It focused mainly on story telling and how it differs between the two genders. It also included what men and women are trying to get out of conversation and communication.

Here are the two paragraphs that i have in my sandbox that i had related to Genderlect Theory and now trying to include on the Language and Gender page

Genderlect styles are the main reasons for misunderstandings in communication between men and women according to Genderlect Theory. The way men and women communicate should be looked at as two distinct separate cultures. Men seek power and status within conversation while women seek a connection to who they are communicating with.

When telling stories Men usually tend to make themselves out to be the hero while women usually tend to down play there actions. Women listeners actively listen to the story by responding with questions and head nodding. Women tend to avoid conflict in their story telling where men find it acceptable. Men listen to stories by keep eye contact but the story teller usually is not as accepting of interruptions. They see it as the other male trying to gain control of the conversation and get the power.

Assignment 7 Added paragraph to Language and gender page dealing with how men and women tell stories and the differences between the two. Was able to make changes on page from paragraphs developed in sandbox and make addition to Language and Gender page.

Assignment 8 Left a message on the Language and Gender Talk page about my addition to the page Expanded the Language and Gender page with my addition on Story Telling and the differences between how men and women tell and receive stories. Have not been able to edit or review anyone else's articles for the second half of this assignment because im not entirely sure where to look to find the other classmates work.
