Welcome![edit]

Hi fellow Wikipedian, and a warm welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you have enjoyed editing as much as I did so far and decide to stay. Unfamiliar with the features and workings of Wikipedia? Don't fret! Be Bold! Here's some good links for your reference and that'll get you started in no time!

Most Wikipedians would prefer to just work on articles of their own interest. But if you have some free time to spare, here are some open tasks that you may want to help out :

  • RC Patrol - Keeping a lookout for vandalism.
  • Cleanup - Help make unreadable articles readable.
  • Requests - Wanted on WP, but hasn't been created.
  • Merge - Combining duplicate articles into one.
  • Wikiprojects - So many to join, so many to choose from...Take your pick!

Oh yes, don't forget to sign when you write on talk pages, simply type four tildes, like this: (~~~~). This will automatically add your name and the time after your comments. And finally, if you have any questions or doubts, don't hesitate to contact me on my talk page. Once again, welcome! =)- Mailer Diablo 13:00, 13 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please refrain from adding nonsense to Wikipedia, as you did to Counter-strike. It is considered vandalism. If you would like to experiment, use the sandbox. SWATJester Ready Aim Fire! 14:53, 3 April 2006 (UTC) warning removed. User may blank it at his leisure. See below. SWATJester Ready Aim Fire! 19:48, 3 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry Cyril. Upon further review it looks like you weren't actually ADDING vandalism, you just didn't take it all away from what was already there. Also I just want to clarify, I wasn't calling you a vandal by the warning, just that unconstructive edits are considered vandalism. It's subtle, but an important difference. Thanks for bringing this to my attention, and I apologize for any inconvenience. If at any time you wish to delete the above warning, please do so at your leisure. SWATJester Ready Aim Fire! 19:48, 3 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! When you find that someone has been warned many times for vandalism, don't just add a first-level {{test}} notice — go up to the next level of warning. In this case, the last warning had already been give, and you needed to ask an admin to apply a block. --Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 13:35, 12 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

blocated[edit]

What did you mean to say when you said "the transistor blocated"?Omegatron 20:11, 17 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I corrected it. please feel free to change it if it not clear enough -- CyrilB 20:57, 17 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please refrain from reverting without review[edit]

Your revert on The DHARMA Initiative was unneeded. Looking back over your recent contributions, it appears you are making numerous reversions using pop-ups without reviewing the substance of such changes. Please stop, and consider instead focusing on actually improving articles, rather than apparently randomly reverting them. Thank you, LeflymanTalk 21:36, 4 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I reverted the edit of 19h34, and failed to notice that many edits were made afterwards. I usually revert only very obvious vandalism. CyrilB 21:45, 4 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You also reverted the addition of an AfD tah to Dark Crowman (comics). Please don't do that. You can participate in the debate, but do not remove tags. Just zis Guy you know? 22:16, 4 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You reverted a series of vandalisms and you reverted my edit on Photovoltaics. I'm pretty sure my edit was not "obvious vandalism". You may disagree with the point I was making, or I may be making the point poorly, but the fact remains that the EROI section on the Photovoltaics page references a poorly argued paper whose basic premise is either ridiculous or meaningless. 71.141.98.189 00:17, 15 March 2007 (UTC) aka Cesium62 00:18, 15 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well, my revert is not a mistake, but it is not completely fair either! The truth is that I found your edit a bit difficult to understand (but I did notice it, I don't revert a set of edits without looking at them individually). Had it not been surrounded by vandalism, I wouldn't have reverted it, thought. This article is a common target for vandalism or for people who want their "exotic" theory to be publicized. That's why I might be a bit heavy-handed on the revert-button. Sorry for that, and thanks for raising this problem. CyrilB 10:36, 17 March 2007 (UTC)

active power factor[edit]

sorry for my crudeness in doing that change, I didn't really have much time left and maybe I should have explained better my position.

the fact is that yes you can remove harmonic distortion with passive filters, you just have to design pass-band filters that will direct these harmonics to the ground. I have myself taken a course on harmonic correction last year, and if you're interested I can give you more info (and, naturally, give wikipedia more info) on this when I move back to my home city, where I have the book used for these classes. and that will be next week.

later, -- VdSV9 10:34, 20 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

OK, this is clearer. So the paragraph you removed should be rephrased to be more definitive in its statements. Passive filters can only be easily designed with a slow cut-off slope, making the suppression of the first harmonics (e.g third and fifth) almost impossible. - CyrilB 11:50, 20 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I didn't read before about you being a researcher in PE. Check this site out, on Download >_> articles there's a lot of things you would need to be in IEEE to find. I think is might be useful for citing as sources per WP:NOR.

Good work, -- VdSV9 13:12, 20 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

of course, the site... [1] this ones are particularly interesting on active pfc [2] [3] [4] VdSV9

Thank you, I didn't know these documents were freely available. You're right, this is good stuff for references, as IEEE has restricted access. CyrilB 20:32, 20 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Inverter (electrical)[edit]

Thank you for the encouragement. I am getting ready to put in something about 3-phase.

Surface-mount technology: why is MQFP listed in "non-packaged devices"?[edit]

In the Surface-mount technology, on 7 June 2006, you have "tidied the list". Because of that, MQFP has become part of "non-packaged devices" list. I suspect you have made a typo. Could you please correct it? I am not 100% sure to do it myself. (Also take a look at a talk page for discussion about this issue.) --Alsh 18:33, 31 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your images on Commons[edit]

hey your contributions on commons are great, all the technical charts and stuff. I saw my professor use on in class today in his presentation! with attribution!! So of course I came here to find the images and sure enough I did! Thanks for all your contributions! -- Andyzweb (Talk) 15:27, 11 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
