Psychiatry

Just when I'd almost lost all hope in Wikipedia's coverage of psychiatry I chanced upon the improved version of psychiatry. Well done for all your hard work! Have a barnstar.

I award you the Barnstar of Tireless Contributor, for your hard work on psychiatry. JFW 14:12, 16 November 2007 (UTC).

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:VertigoTour_Vertigo_U2_Chicago.JPG. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. –Dream out loud (talk) 04:52, 23 November 2007 (UTC)

question on citations

hey, thank for the feed back on the emergency psychiatry page. Regarding the citations, I noticed that some of the previous citations in the article just citied a text book, without referring to a specific page/ chapter etc. I'm guessing the textbooks were probably 200 pages plus. Also many were 15+ years old. To me that seems almost the same as not citing anything. I think it just makes things look good on the surface. What is the wikipedia mode of operations with citations? F

Also, I tried to stick to the generally accepted facts of the field, I hope I did not stray too far to 'independent research' etc.

Thanks again —Preceding unsigned comment added by Expo512 (talkcontribs) 05:08, 24 November 2007 (UTC)

Chubber:

Thanks for the info. I'll try to get some citations for the things that I write. I think what you said made sence that some citations if if old, are bettr than none at all!--Expo512 (talk) 05:40, 25 November 2007 (UTC)

psychosurgery

Any surgical procedure would never be done in 'emergency' psychiatry. Pt would have it be admitted to the hospital to have it done, it were at all possible. In addition, for example, psychosurgery is currently illegal in California. I sure there is research going on regarding something involving brain stimulation, but definately not in the ER.

There are not any emergency psychiatric procedures that involve operating on the brain. I think there has to be a careful distinction made between psychiatry and 'emergency' psychiatry, which is a sub-field. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Expo512 (talkcontribs) 05:18, 24 November 2007 (UTC)

Hi, I've nominated this for deletion here as I doubt it satisfies notability. Chipping in with opinions is welcomed, including reasons or evidence for keeping it.cheers, Casliber (talk · contribs) 01:41, 18 December 2007 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:EDUN Logo.GIF)

Thanks for uploading Image:EDUN Logo.GIF. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 04:31, 15 January 2008 (UTC)

Missing phrase

Hi Chupper. Could you help me with this problem? I noticed that on the 18th of Oct 07 you made this edit [1] You deleted “Most psychiatric illnesses cannot currently be cured” also “The following sentence has been the subject to extended debate. Do not make changes to it without first obtaining consensus on Talk:Psychiatry.”

The debate starts here: [2] and consensus was reached here: [3]

The phrase was inserted in April 06 here: [4] and was latter moved to the start of the article with “although recovery may occur.” being added to it.

I expect that this phrase would not be changed or deleted without debate but I can not find this debate.

Could you please direct me to where this was debated?--WikiCats (talk) 11:40, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
