The Photographer's Barnstar
I am delighted to present The Photographer's Barnstar to Maharaj Devraj Singh for uploading irreplacable and otherwise inaccessible photographs related to Princely India and Royal Thailand from his personal collection. -- ImpuMozhi 02:07, 2 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Barnstar[edit]

Hello, its me again :D -- I have been away from Wikipedia for a long time and dropped by to see how you are liking it here. How did you find your recent visit to India -- we have been reading about you in the press! Hope your visit was both happy and successful.

Before my long vacation (away from Wikipedia), I had been pestering you to upload images. Looking through your contributions-link, I find it wonderful how many images you have contributed, both Indian and Thai. I also realize that this is not as easy for you to do as one would imagine. We would never have been able to have these on Wikipedia, were it not for you. I'm therefore giving you a barnstar of appreciation. I also appreciate the exemplary moderation of all your edits; when I consider that these relate to your own dynasty and history, I am overawed by their restraint. There is only a very small community on Wikipedia that is interested in History, or in princely India, and I'm glad to have you still with us after several months and hope that you continue to enrich Wikipedia for a long time to come. Best regards, ImpuMozhi 02:07, 2 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for Image:Isarda.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Isarda.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 09:07, 25 August 2007 (UTC)

Greetings Maharaja the anonymous ip User:70.174.180.38 ?[edit]

Are you anonymous ip User:70.174.180.38 posting your opinion ,
and other times deleting sourced information from various articles . ??,

Please accept My compliments on your royal photograph . Cheers : ) Intothefire 08:21, 30 September 2007 (UTC) Reply[reply]

My reply:Thanks for dropping by. First of all I'm happy to inform you that I am not the mysterious ip User:70.174.180.38 . I am not new to Wikepedia and my edits in the Kshatriya articles are documented under this name if not Maharaj Devraj, I did not agree with the way Khatri was put into the Suryavanshi section, so I removed the demeaning comments but I did not remove the Khatri link out of the section, check in the history. Besides, I do not edit articles which I do not have any knowledge upon and if I disagree with what is written in an article I would rather discuss it rather than vandalize. For that reason, I have removed your reference to my name in the page of your friend User:70.174.180.38 RegardsDevraj Singh 10:52, 1 October 2007 (UTC) Ps. Perhaps you should try to persuade him to register and talk it out. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Devraj Singh (talk • contribs) 10:55, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

re: Explanation needed[edit]

It was removed because the source seems to copy a page from without permission. I don't think wikipedia should condone such action, which is frowned upon per its guideline on licensing. __earth (Talk) 09:23, 18 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Map of Durrani Empire[edit]

The map showing the extent of the Durrani Empire (Afgempdur.jpg) doesn’t seem to be appropriate. Firstly, the map is not in English, which makes it difficult to understand it. Such a map has very high chances of misleading the readers instead of guiding them. Also, the map doesn’t tell the actual year(time) of the maximum extent of Durrani Empire.

Secondly, the limits of the influence of the Afghan Empire(vassal states) is shown covering Rajputana(Although Rajputs were unfriendly towards Marathas, Rajputana wasn't in any way a vassal of the Durrani empire), part of present day Maharashtra and even Malwa- the stronghold of Holkars & Gwalior- the stronghold of Scindias(Holkars and Shindes were potent forces even after the Maratha defeat at Panipat). Even though the Marathas had lost the battle of Panipat, there wasn’t any chance that anyone (including Abdali) could come even near present day Maharashtra. After the battle, Abdali quickly retired to Afghanistan and the Sikhs had emerged a potent force in Punjab. Although he attacked Punjab twice after 1761, he didn't make any decisive gains and didn't come south of Punjab. This map doesn’t seem to be made by an expert and I also have doubts over the western extent of the empire. It is extremely inaccurate and is misguiding the users. It seems to be highly biased, violating Wikipedia’s NPOV policy and seems to be made by an Abdali follower. This map needs to be removed from Durrani Empire and Afghanistan. Kindly go through this.
