Thanks for uploading Image:Am Falls store 1915.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

License tagging for Image:Am Falls store 1915 (best, small).jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Am Falls store 1915 (best,small).jpg. Wikipedia gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Help with copyright tags[edit]

Hello Don. Permission-only images are not allowed on Wikipedia. You need to specifically ask them to release the images under the GFDL or another free content license (not something like CC non-commercial since that is non-free). You can do this with the Wikipedia:Boilerplate request for permission. Some of these may be old enough to be public domain, at least in the US. See Template:PD-US if you know that images were first published before 1923. Wikipedia aims to provide free content that can be reused by others, which is why you can't just take images from other websites and add them here. Angela. 04:23, 30 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You can request any admin delete something by adding a {{delete}} tag to the page (see Wikipedia:deletion policy for details). To explain the reason for deletion, you can type {{db| add reason here }} instead of just {{delete}}.
If the owner of groceteria.com doesn't hold the rights to them, and you don't know the original source, these can't be used on Wikipedia. Old images may be in the pulic domain if they are old enough, so you can label them {{PD-old}}. I can't answer the question about newspaper images without knowing what you mean. If they are recent images, the newspaper will probably own the copyright on them. No mention of restrictions in the newspaper doesn't mean there aren't any.
By the way, you can sign your name on talk pages by typing 4 tildes (~~~~) or just 3 when you don't need the timestamp.

Image:Mayomain.jpg listed for deletion[edit]

Dear uploader: The media file you uploaded as Image:Mayomain.jpg has been listed for speedy deletion because you selected a copyright license type implying some type of restricted use, such as for non-commercial use only, or for educational use only or for use on Wikipedia by permission. While it might seem reasonable to assume that such files can be freely used on Wikipedia, this is in fact not the case[1][2]. Please do not upload any more files with these restrictions on them, because content on Wikipedia needs to be compatible with the GNU Free Documentation License, which allows anyone to use it for any purpose, commercial or non-commercial. See our non-free content guidelines for more more information.

If you created this media file and want to use it on Wikipedia, you may re-upload it (or amend the image description if it has not yet been deleted) and use the license {{GFDL-self-no-disclaimers}} to license it under the GFDL, or {{cc-by-sa-2.5}} to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, or use {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain.

If you did not create this media file but want to use it on Wikipedia, there are two ways to proceed. First, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list if you believe one of those fair use rationales applies to this file. Second, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.

If you have any questions please ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you. Harryboyles 11:53, 30 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

File source problem with File:Safeway 1920.jpg[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Safeway 1920.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of that website's terms of use of its content. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged per Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion, F4. If the image is copyrighted and non-free, the image will be deleted 48 hours after 21:58, 1 May 2010 (UTC) per speedy deletion criterion F7. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 21:58, 1 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

A file that you uploaded or altered, File:Safeway 1923.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Possibly unfree files because its copyright status is unclear or disputed. File permission problem with File:Mb and store.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Mb and store.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Kelly hi! 09:08, 9 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Image deletions[edit]

File:Mb&estella skaggs.jpg and File:Mb and store.jpg were deleted by User:TLSuda because there was no evidence that the claimed license was correct (see Wikipedia:Possibly unfree files/2014 October 23#File:Mb and store.jpg); prior to that, File:Mb and store.jpg had been deleted for lack of a license tag (twice), having an unacceptable license (once), and deleted through the IFD process for having an incorrect license claim (once). If you actually have permission to use the images under a license acceptable on Wikipedia, please forward the information to OTRS and the images will be restored. --Carnildo (talk) 23:35, 10 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
