Arizona Territory[edit]

Thanks Wow. I was trying to replace PNGs with superseded SVGs, but somehow I deleted most of the page. Jinkies. Thanks for reverting and thanks for telling me. —Justin (koavf)TCM☯ 16:53, 28 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Real Names[edit]

Hi, I read your section on why you use your real name. I like that it is all a part of what makes you a better net citizen. I must admit that I don't shout my true name, although I am paddy3118 for well over a decade and 99% of what I write I write as Paddy3118 on the net.

I just got tired of how too many act on the net and so went public with my desire to take the harder path of being polite; (never forgetting though that there are polite ways to emphatically disagree with someone). If I were relying on my web input for a job then I guess sending my nom de plume, then demonstrating that the handle was mine at interview would have to suffice. (Mind you, I could also email from a very old free email account using that name, that hasn't accepted new users for years too). - --Paddy (talk) 04:01, 14 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I wish I had a camera pointed at my face when I got the notification email about this. '"User talk:Eriksiers" has been changed by Paddy3118' me: "Wait, but... Paddy3118... WP... RC... huh?" I had to actually follow the link to convince myself that I wasn't hallucinating or something. :-)
(For anyone else reading this, I recognized Paddy from his extensive Rosetta Code activity.)
My thinking, as far as the influence of my "web presence" (or whatever) on any future work, is not whether or not I needed to rely on it to find work, but rather, what if a potential employer decides to run my name through Google? See, with a pseudonym, that wouldn't be a problem; it would be impossible to link "Erik Siers" with "imastupiduser". But I feel like that's the easy way out, and by using my real name, I'm forcing myself to be a better person.
Does that make sense? -- Erik Siers (talk) 04:19, 14 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Walter[edit]

A semi-anonymous person calling himself "Walter" asked this (in the body of the essay, originally -- moved here by me):

what is intarweb? typo or something one should know?

came here from rosettacode

Walter

Yes I am, thanks --77.117.247.165 (talk) 05:03, 21 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

"Intarweb" is just a semi-humorous name for the Internet. -- Erik Siers (talk) 01:02, 21 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

June 2013[edit]

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Charlemagne: By the Sword and the Cross may have broken the syntax by modifying 2 "{}"s. If you have, don't worry, just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.
