National varieties of English[edit]

Hi FactZebra, I notice you're new to Wikipedia, so you most likely unaware of all our rules and policies. There's a lot to take in, I know. Could I just draw your attention to the National varieties of English section of our Manual of Style. We generally do not 'correct' from one version of English to another, if the article is written in one (consistent) variant of English e.g [1] and [2].

Kind Regards -- Marek.69 talk 16:51, 8 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Brevan Howard's wikipedia page[edit]

Hi FactZebra! I'm getting in touch because I see you recently made a change to the Brevan Howard Wikipedia entry.

The Wikipedia page has been left as a stub for a number of years, and so I've been asked by Brevan Howard to populate it with some information on the company, specifically what it does, rather than leaving it empty. Because I have a conflict of interest in this matter, I'm hoping to get your feedback and maybe your agreement to update it with my new version, which can be found here.

I've spent a lot of time over the last few weeks identifying reliable sources writing about the company and putting the information together, which is all factual, so I would be grateful if you could take a look and let me know what you think. If you agree that my draft is better than what's currently there, I'd ask if you could apply the changes and we can gain consensus from the community on specific adjustments later.

I'm also a little worried about recent edits made to the page (as of today), which focus on a particular person at the firm (a founder), which I think is at odds with Wikipedia's editing style on corporations of note - the focus should be on the corporation, not its individuals, i.e. the corporation has done XYZ, not a founder.

I'll check back on my talk page (or my draft's talk page) for your comments, and I really appreciate your help on this. DanJay000 (talk) 10:12, 13 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Chip Smith.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Chip Smith.jpg, which you've attributed to A VRT notice was applied over 30 day(s) ago, but no message at VRTS has been found since this tag was applied.. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Ronhjones  (Talk) 23:41, 12 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
