I understand you've only been on Wikipedia since October, so I make this comment in the spirit of instruction and collaboration. WP:BLP is very strict about citing claims regarding living people. When two equally reliable sources — in this case the BC Lions and ESPN — give conflicting birth dates, we're not allowed to use POV judgment or personal preference. In the absence of incontrovertible evidence, we must give both. This is not uncommon: See Mariah Carey and Mick Mars.
