IP block exempt[edit]

I have granted your account an exemption from IP blocking. This will allow you to edit through full blocks affecting your IP address when you are logged in.

Please read the page Wikipedia:IP block exemption carefully, especially the section on IP block exemption conditions.

Note in particular that you are not permitted to use this newly-granted right to edit Wikipedia via anonymous proxies, or disruptively. If you do, or there is a serious concern of abuse, then the right may be removed by any administrator.

Appropriate usage and compliance with the policy may be checked periodically, due to the nature of block exemption, and block exemption will be removed when no longer needed (for example, when the block it is related to expires).

I hope this will enhance your editing, and allow you to edit successfully and without disruption. Black Kite (talk) 10:26, 4 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

"Editing from 80.254.64.0/20 has been blocked (disabled) by DeltaQuad for the following reason(s): The IP address that you are currently using has been blocked because it is believed to be an open proxy. To prevent abuse, these proxies may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. If you believe you are not running an open proxy, the most likely cause is that another customer from your ISP who was previously assigned this IP address was running an open proxy." I don't use a proxy. I have no control over the IP address assigned to my internet connection, as my ISP gives out dynamic IP addresses everytime we customers restart our router. After a Google search it looks that 80.254... is my ISP's direct IP address, so you completely banned a whole ISP? Please unblock this IP address as I guess I'm not the only innocent user affected. Also regarding my last unblock appeal, note that I can't reply in the next few days because I'm not regularly on Wikipedia. Furthermore I can't reply to Ultraexactzz as this ban also blocks me from writing on his talk page. Formicula (talk) 10:32, 1 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Accept reason:

I have changed your account settings so that it can edit through this rangeblock which, although it includes proxy IP addresses, also includes other services that are not disallowed. Black Kite (talk) 10:26, 4 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Your request to be unblocked has been granted for the following reason(s):

Allowing username change to Formicula (talk · contribs). Please put this request in at Wikipedia:Changing username as soon as possible to avoid re-blocking.

Request handled by: Daniel Case (talk)

Unblocking administrator: Please check for active autoblocks on this user after accepting the unblock request.

This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Request reason:

I'm apparently banned because of using an open proxy IP, but my ISP gives out dynamic IP addresses... Formicula (talk) 17:35, 21 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

Procedural decline: no response to follow-up question after several days. If you do not want to publicly reveal the IP you are using that is blocked you may want to consider appealing via UTRS. Jezebel'sPonyobons mots 18:02, 27 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Could you post the exact error it gives you when you attempt to edit? I can't find the block in the log. Thanks. UltraExactZZ Said ~ Did 14:01, 22 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Username February 2010[edit]

Funny that I'm not allowed to login with a identifiable username like "Guest Account", while any unregistered visitor with a dynamic IP can edit and delete things in Wikipedia. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Guest Account (talkcontribs)

Yes, but "guest account" suggests that it is a role account, as that's the purpose of the guest account on any network. (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 13:53, 28 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
