The Right Reverend Daniel George Polycarp Gutiérrez (born 1964) is an Episcopal priest who was consecrated as the 16th Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Pennsylvania on July 16, 2016. He is the 1094th Bishop in Episcopal Church succeeding Bishop Clifton D. Daniel, 3d who served as the provisional bishop. Gutiérrez was elected Bishop on March 12, 2016 at Philadelphia Episcopal Cathedral.

Bishop Gutiérrez is married to the Suzanne Fletcher Gutiérrez and they have one son Jude Daniel Fletcher Gutiérrez.

Career[edit]

Prior to being raised to the episcopacy, Bishop Gutiérrez served as the Director of the Bernalillo County Economic Development Department, and Chief of Staff to the Mayor of Albuquerque and to the Chair of the Bernalillo County Commission. He also founded a marketing, media, and political consulting company. The company specialized in media messaging (direct mail, television, and polling).

Bishop Gutiérrez served at St. Michael and All Angels and the Cathedral Church of St. John in Albuquerque. He was also a founding member and served at San Gabriel Episcopal Church in Corrales, NM. In January 2011, Bishop Michael R. Vono called him to serve as the Canon to the Ordinary, Chief Operating Officer and Chief of Staff for the Diocese of the Rio Grande.

Bishop Gutiérrez was the Executive Director of the Bosque Conference and Retreat Center and the Diocesan Camp and Conference Centers. He served during this time as Vicar of Our Lady in the Valley Episcopal Church in Albuquerque and St. Francis of Assisi in Rio Rancho. He also served the national church with extensive work with the Episcopal Church in Navajoland.
