I am having trouble attaching pictures to my wikis.

Since this question is pretty non-specific, I unfortunately can't give you anything more than a general answer. However, I can give you a simple example of the markup that I usually use. We'll use the logo from the Latin Wikipedia for this purpose.

Look at the syntax in this section to see what I've written. The brackets on either end link the file; what follows is obviously the file name (in this case, from Wikimedia Commons. The "|" indicates a new value. The "px" stands for "pixels", and denotes the size of the image. The "center" indicates the placement of the image on the page (it can be "left", "center", or "right"). Try it out in your sandbox.
