License tagging for Image:Tough2.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Tough2.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 16:07, 5 August 2006 (UTC)

Please refrain from undoing other people's edits repeatedly. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions in a content dispute within a 24 hour period. Additionally, users who perform a large number of reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring, even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. Rather than reverting, discuss disputed changes on the talk page. The revision you want is not going to be implemented by edit warring. Thank you. Femto 16:33, 4 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

"See also" spamming[edit]

This is the last warning you will receive for your disruptive edits. The next time you insert a spam link, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Persistent spammers may have their websites blacklisted preventing anyone from linking to them from all Wikimedia sites as well as potentially being penalized by search engines. OhNoitsJamie Talk 22:35, 18 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

"See also" working[edit]

What is the reason for your message? Put links to be specify your point. I think you are spamming NOT me! People need links to example systems, since they are interested of the subject. It is pure stupidity to remove all links to specific systems and mark it spam only because they are commercial. People need those links and they are looking forward to find them in Wikipedia! Removing usefull links only makes the Wikipedia less informative! I consider OhNoitsJamie Talk's updates as spamming! (Jannej (talk) 19:58, 27 July 2009 (UTC))[reply]

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of SeaClear, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://www.sping.com/seaclear. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot (talk) 07:24, 18 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on SeaClear requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. File copyright problem with File:Akademik Fyodorov.png[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Akademik Fyodorov.png. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Lәo(βǃʘʘɱ) 02:35, 29 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The article SeaClear has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Notability is not asserted in the current article. Looking through google search I can not find significant coverage from multiple reliable sources to establish notability.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. ~~ GB fan ~~ talk 00:11, 13 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Touch Screen.jpg[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Touch Screen.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. RJaguar3 | u | t 21:50, 22 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • All I can tell you is that this picture is totally free to be used anyhow! I am not a specialist to add copyright or image tags since I am not a regular Wikipedia writer! Put more help so that normal people can do these edits! Jannej (talk) 23.12.2010
    • The issue is that there are two copyright interests at issue in the image. One is the photographer's copyright interest in photographing a 3-D object (which also happens to be a GPS system). The other is the interest of the copyright holder of the image displayed on the screen in the picture. Since I presume the image is generated by software in the system, the appropriate copyright holder would be the copyright holder of the GPS software. In order for the image to be used freely, we must have sufficiently free licenses from both holders. I see from your previous images that you are probably intending to release your rights to the photograph. However, we would still need permission from the GPS software copyright holder; since they are established, they would have to send a formal permission request to us via WP:OTRS. If we don't have sufficiently free licenses from both holders, we can only use the image under WP:NFCC, and for that, a non-free use rationale addressing all the points of WP:NFCC is needed for each page in which the image is used. Currently, the image lacks such a rationale; it is incomplete and will be deleted without discussion if the rationale is not amended to address the points of WP:NFCC. Let me know if you have any other questions. RJaguar3 | u | t 22:59, 23 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
      • Can you print exactly what is then needed? What is the name of the tag you need there? I just find there hundreds of different copyright tags which all are useless if I ever happen to use any of them? All I have noticed is that what ever tag you ever use the image will be deleted soon!? Why then list those tags which will not yield anything more but useless adding and deleting of images? Jannej (talk)
        • I'm not sure what you are referring to. If you're looking to tag it as a free image, which we can use on this encyclopedia without restrictions, then you will need to provide evidence that the copyright owner of the software grants sufficient permission under a free (as in freedom) license. If you're wanting to use this image under WP:NFCC, then you not only need a tag like the image has, you also need a non-free use rationale for every article in which the image will be used, addressing the points in WP:NFCC. Let me know if this helps or you need more clarification. RJaguar3 | u | t 20:28, 26 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image File:MNS LogoLogo.gif[edit]

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:MNS LogoLogo.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Courcelles 04:08, 1 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
