Article talk page etiquette[edit]

Please be aware that article talk pages are for discussion of improving the articles and aren't a forum to impart opinions about events. Your comments left on the Jonestown talk page really aren't constructive to the article. Any fact that is included in an article must be sourced with a reliable reference, and since the available references disagree on the total number of persons who died there, the editors were discussing how to handle that in the article. While I appreciate that you have a decided opinion on these deaths, it isn't helpful to the article. Also, when you add comments to a talk page, you are required to sign your posts by type four tildes such as (~~~~), which will give the relevant information to who you are. Removing auto-signatures supplied by bots when you have neglected to sign your post is inappropriate. Wildhartlivie (talk) 06:13, 15 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

WP:FILMS Welcome[edit]

Welcome!

Hey, welcome to WikiProject Films! We're a group of editors working to improve Wikipedia's coverage of films, awards, festivals, filmmaking, and film characters. If you haven't already, please add {{User WikiProject Films}} to your user page.

A few features that you might find helpful:

  • Most of our important discussions about the project itself and its related articles take place on the project's main discussion page; it is highly recommended that you watchlist it.

There is a variety of interesting things to do within the project; you're free to participate however much—or little—you like:

  • Want to jump right into editing? The style guidelines show things you should include.
  • Want to assist in some current backlogs within the project? Visit the Announcements template to see how you can help.
  • Want to know how good our articles are? Our assessment department has rated the quality of every film article in Wikipedia. Check it out!

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask another fellow member, and we'll be happy to help you. Again, welcome! We look forward to seeing you around! Nehrams2020 (talk) 04:03, 4 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

WP:FILMS Questionnaire[edit]

As a member of WikiProject Films, you are invited to take part in the project's first questionnaire. It is intended to gauge your participation and views on the project. At the conclusion of the questionnaire, the project's coordinators will use the gathered feedback to find new ways to improve the project and reach out to potential members. The results of the questionnaire will be published in next month's newsletter. If you know of any editors who have edited film articles in the past, please invite them to take part in the questionnaire. Please stop by and take a few minutes to answer the questions so that we can continue to improve our project. Happy editing!

Your recent edits[edit]

Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 04:54, 1 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

October 2009[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, talk pages are meant to be a record of a discussion; deleting or editing legitimate comments, as you did at Talk:The Singing Nun, is considered bad practice, even if you meant well. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. --Dominic Hardstaff (talk) 11:09, 15 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Deleted user talk page section[edit]

I deleted a section that was titled with a derogatory racial slur from this your talk page. Please see WP:CIVIL. Further, that secton did not reference any article; it just expressed a political opinion. Please see WP:TALK which states: "This guideline in a nutshell: Talk pages are for discussion to improve the encyclopedia and should not be used to express personal opinions on a subject..." Request reason:

I plead ignorance to the editorial rules of Wikipedia. I assumed "first amendment rights" were universal. I assure all that I will not take for granted the wiki freedom of expression.

Decline reason:

Wikipedia is not a government entity, so the first amendment does not apply here. I suggest that you re-read our policies, playing close attention to WP:BLP. WilliamH (talk) 05:57, 25 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
