Greetings[edit]

Hello Jean and welcome to Wikipedia. By Syriac, if you implying West Syrian rite, then no I don't consider myself an expert on the issue. I'm mostly knowledable with East Syrian (Assyrian) related information, such as Simele Massacre, Assyrian elections in Iraq, etc. But you can always ask for my help if you need any specific information regarding Syriac Orthodox/Catholics. I'll try to help the best I can. Iraqi (talk) 14:41, 9 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Your edits[edit]

provided that you are not a sock of banned user of AramaeanSyriac (talk · contribs), understand that before you can recreate the Syriac people article, you will need to gain WP:CONSENSUS for a split into two articles with clearly defined scope, at Talk:Assyrian/Chaldean/Syriac people, which is so named specifically to include the self-declared Syriac people into its scope as well as the self-declared Assyrian people.

If you are really an expert, you may be in a position to present academic references establishing that these are in fact two separate groups. As far as our current references go, they are in fact two names for one and the same people, i.e. the Aramaic speaking Christians of the Middle East. --dab (𒁳) 18:42, 11 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
