Unit 4 - Summary of Characteristics of a Target Article

Thanks for letting me know about the technical problem we had for the videos on "Article Improvement" and "Article Assessment", and providing the link for Wikipedia: Version 1.0 for references on GA and FA articles. Hi Cisilya. Regarding your post above from last night asking about "point mutation" or "nick"? I've also suggested point mutation. Regarding "nick", this is only a stub so far, which I guess is okay, but I wanted to know your rationale on this (in particular, what would be some of the main topics in a "nick" article. One reason I ask is that I'd prefer not to get into torsion and supercoiling -- with all the various equations, calculations and related mind-bending. AM I missing something? What do you think about XRCC4?Please let me know. AND IMPORTANTLY, please continue this discussion on our Project's "Talk page" because we are apparently going to be graded tomorrow based on what we put on the Project Talk page -- not our personal pages (and, by the way, I don't think Professor Ogg has graded it yet, but last week's Wiki assignment was to post article assessments to our Project's Sandbox page, and I didn't see any assessments from you there. I guess this was considered an "individual assignment" but wanted to alert you in case she will be grading these in combination with the grading of this week's assignment (due tomorrow), which has two parts: our discussion on our Project talk page and our 200-300-word rationale on our topic choice. Hey Jim, I'm sorry you're having trouble. From checking over your contributions, I think you're having trouble getting images from Commons into your sandbox. The syntax is kind of confusing, sorry! I'm going to give you a blank slate that you can just fill in every time you want to put an image somewhere. [If this isn't what you're looking for or doesn't make sense, please let me know, I'm happy to help as much as you need.] Here's your blank slate: [[File:FILENAME|thumb|RIGHT/LEFT|SIZEpx|CAPTION]]. For example, the code [[File:Andromeda annotated.png|thumb|right|400px|Andromeda as it appears in the night sky, with the superimposed figure.]] produces the image to the right. The parameters are pretty easy, fortunately. "FILENAME" is just the name of the file, from Commons. For example, "Andromeda annotated.png" is the filename of that image. The "RIGHT/LEFT" parameter is also easy, just pick which side you want it to be on. "SIZE" is the size of the image in pixels, I recommend somewhere between 250-450 pixels. XRCC4

Hi. I think you and Cdunca12 have done a great job of expanding the XRCC4 article with well sourced and well written material. I also realize that this article is the subject of an educational assignment. As I have already mentioned several times on the article's talk page, I think the lead focuses too much on the NHEJ pathway and not enough on the XRCC4 gene/protein. I was also becoming frustrated at the lack of response to my suggestions. (Please note that Wikipedia editors tend to get cranky if they are ignored on talk pages ;-) ) That is the reason I added the {{Inadequate lead}} banner to the top of the article.
