Welcome to Wikipedia, Jgould1400! Thank you for your contributions. I am Keilana and I have been editing Wikipedia for some time, so if you have any questions feel free to leave me a message on my talk page. You can also check out Wikipedia:Questions or type {{helpme}} at the bottom of this page. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Also, when you post on talk pages you should sign your name using four tildes (~~~~); that will automatically produce your username and the date. I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Keilana|Parlez ici 05:45, 9 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome, again![edit]

Hi Jim! Your message did get through, but some of the formatting was a little weird. You only have to sign the messages once, with four tildes. It looked like you signed it at the beginning once and the end twice, not sure what happened there. Feel free to ask me for help with anything you may need. Good luck! :) Keilana|Parlez ici 03:08, 14 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your reply, Keilana!

Unit 3 - Teammate Introduction[edit]

Hello Jim!

I just copied and pasted my "hello" from your Jgould140 user talk page below.

My name is Cisilya and I will be your teammate for our Wikipedia group project, for the Spring Molecular Biology course. How's it going so far? I have already added your User Talk and Sandbox pages to my Watchlist. I think you are supposed to introduce yourself on my User Talk page as well, and then I will respond (two entries in each of our talk pages). Thanks! Hi Cisilya. Thanks for your message. I look forward to working with you as well.

Unit 4 - Summary of Characteristics of a Target Article[edit]

Hi Jim,

Thanks for letting me know about the technical problem we had for the videos on "Article Improvement" and "Article Assessment", and providing the link for Wikipedia: Version 1.0 for references on GA and FA articles. That helped a lot. I originally only included the general outline and criteria for a Wikipedia article as I did not have access to this information. I will go ahead my modify my post. Thanks! Cdunca12 18:16, 20 February 2013 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cdunca12 (talkcontribs)

Hi Jim - Thanks for reminding me about the article topic. I think I still need this week to think that over. Would you mind if we touch base this weekend about it. I will do a little research on a few of the topics. Thanks! Also, not sure if I should answer your post to my user page, on your user page. 76.93.137.178 (talk) 01:47, 26 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry[edit]

Sorry for the extremely late reply!! I'll introduce myself. I'm Deidra C!!! Hi!! You should try suggestbot too there are some great suggestions. Lol. You can learn more about me on my user page. Thanks!!! RaidenRules! (talk) 22:44, 4 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Jim, I haven't had a chance to research the topics. Do you have a preference? Let's pick something that is well researched and we have already covered in the text. Thanks! Cdunca12 07:36, 5 March 2013 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cdunca12 (talkcontribs)

Hi Jim,

How about "point mutation" or "nick"? Are these ok? Thanks. Cdunca12 07:47, 5 March 2013 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cdunca12 (talkcontribs)

Hi Cisilya. Regarding your post above from last night asking about "point mutation" or "nick"? I've also suggested point mutation. Regarding "nick", this is only a stub so far, which I guess is okay, but I wanted to know your rationale on this (in particular, what would be some of the main topics in a "nick" article. One reason I ask is that I'd prefer not to get into torsion and supercoiling -- with all the various equations, calculations and related mind-bending. AM I missing something? What do you think about XRCC4?Please let me know. AND IMPORTANTLY, please continue this discussion on our Project's "Talk page" because we are apparently going to be graded tomorrow based on what we put on the Project Talk page -- not our personal pages (and, by the way, I don't think Professor Ogg has graded it yet, but last week's Wiki assignment was to post article assessments to our Project's Sandbox page, and I didn't see any assessments from you there. I guess this was considered an "individual assignment" but wanted to alert you in case she will be grading these in combination with the grading of this week's assignment (due tomorrow), which has two parts: our discussion on our Project talk page and our 200-300-word rationale on our topic choice. Best, Jim. Jgould1400 (talk) 22:17, 5 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I should just clarify that there appears to be no "Project Sandbox"; our article assessments are/were to be posted to our project page (i.e., the "Project 82H" main page). Jgould1400 (talk) 23:05, 5 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Images[edit]

Andromeda as it appears in the night sky, with the superimposed figure.

Hey Jim, I'm sorry you're having trouble. From checking over your contributions, I think you're having trouble getting images from Commons into your sandbox. The syntax is kind of confusing, sorry! I'm going to give you a blank slate that you can just fill in every time you want to put an image somewhere. [If this isn't what you're looking for or doesn't make sense, please let me know, I'm happy to help as much as you need.] Here's your blank slate: [[File:FILENAME|thumb|RIGHT/LEFT|SIZEpx|CAPTION]]. For example, the code [[File:Andromeda annotated.png|thumb|right|400px|Andromeda as it appears in the night sky, with the superimposed figure.]] produces the image to the right. The parameters are pretty easy, fortunately. "FILENAME" is just the name of the file, from Commons. For example, "Andromeda annotated.png" is the filename of that image. The "RIGHT/LEFT" parameter is also easy, just pick which side you want it to be on. "SIZE" is the size of the image in pixels, I recommend somewhere between 250-450 pixels. "CAPTION" you fill in with whatever you want your caption to be. I hope this helps, if it doesn't, let me know! All the best, Keilana|Parlez ici 13:52, 14 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Keilana. I'll let you knw how it goes. Jgould1400 (talk) 23:32, 16 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I think you and Cdunca12 have done a great job of expanding the XRCC4 article with well sourced and well written material. I also realize that this article is the subject of an educational assignment. As I have already mentioned several times on the article's talk page, I think the lead focuses too much on the NHEJ pathway and not enough on the XRCC4 gene/protein. I was also becoming frustrated at the lack of response to my suggestions. (Please note that Wikipedia editors tend to get cranky if they are ignored on talk pages ;-) ) That is the reason I added the {{Inadequate lead}} banner to the top of the article. Please also understand that this edit was intended to be constructive and not disruptive. Cheers. Boghog (talk) 20:28, 9 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

If you disagree with the addition of the {{Inadequate lead}} banner to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page. That is what it is there for. Boghog (talk) 21:16, 9 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
