Destructive fishing practices[edit]

You know, that is not a bad article you have written on destructive fishing practices, despite the tags. You clearly have some background in the area, but you have not cited appropriate sources. This leaves the article open to being tagged as original research. I have been unable to source the position you set out adequately from the web. The fact seems to be that "destructive fishing" has not been defined or used in a particularly useful way. I like the original FAO position of distinguishing between reversible effects and non-reversible effects (though this doesn't seem to have generally been adopted). I don't particularly like the extended uses you develop for the term, since they dilute it's use to the point where it's not pointing to irreversible destruction, but merely anything that has some negative effect. And I wonder whether you just added that as your own thoughts, or whether you can source it from reputable sources. As it stands, it is hard to justify this article as adding anything that doesn't more appropriately belong to the article on environmental effects of fishing. It would be good if you are willing to engage on this matter and see if we can jointly clarify this. In the meantime, I may work the article up a bit to if it can sit okay. But it may need deleting. --Geronimo20 (talk) 09:32, 21 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
