The Nav Canada thing was the case, which I suppose is a good reason for a redirect. As to the checking the only way is to go through the history. At least Air North is fairly short compared to some. CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 13:49, 12 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Here it is, an anonymous user and it's the last edit they made. It's a strange edit as none of the previous edits had anything to do with airlines or the Yukon. Also the external link is no longer valid and you may want to change it to https://www.flyairnorth.com

Interests[edit]

Here's a few things you may be interested in if you haven't found them already. Wikipedia:WikiProject Airports, Wikipedia:WikiProject Airlines, Wikipedia:WikiProject Aircraft, Category:Meteorology and Category:Airports of Yukon. Over the past few months I have managed to get a stub made for all land and water aerodromes in Canada from the CFS. Oner thing that does still need doing is someone to go through them and check that I've got the correct community served in the infobox and the see also for other aiports in the area are correct. Something for you to look at if you are interested.

Airports[edit]

Well I've got them all (I think) in now as stubs. I've lost all the data that I had typed in (except for Alberta, BC and Saskatchewan) so that means I need to copy it back out from the articles and correct my typing errors and fix the coordinate links and add the reference quote at the same time. What I really need is people to go through each territory/province and check the non-CFS data. Things like do I have the correct community listed, should there be more airports listed in the see also, does the body of the article match with the infobox (assuming the infobox is correct), is there an IATA code and does the airport have any other names (like Fort St. John Airport - North Peace Airport). Another thing that needs doing is in the article. I didn't see the {{Airport codes|YEG|CYEG}} tag which gives (IATA: YEG, ICAO: CYEG). Also if you look at the early ones I did like Carcross Airport they need to be made more like Acme Airport to give them a standard look. The other thing I can't add is any other stuff to the article, such as web site, airlines, etc. It's a lot of work but I have an obsession and the time, until my boss catches me doing this at work. Airports questions[edit]

Is Algoma Mills Water Aerodrome close enough to Elliot Lake Municipal Airport that it should be mentioned?

Aklavik Airport, what is the correct IATA code for that one? This shows LAK for Aklavik and YKD for a Township Airport, which when you follow the link to here turns out to be Kincardine Airport. This (it's the IATA site) gives the same results as the first. And to make it worse this one is really confused.

If you search for Aklavik it gives both YKD (airport) and LAK (town).
If you search for Kincardine it gives YKD.
If you search LAK it gives Aklavik (town).
If you search YKD you get both Kincardine and Aklavik Airports.
If you search CYKD you get YKD.
If you search CNS7 you get nothing.

and finally if you use the drop down box for "Select a letter for ICAO Codes:" you get a long list which shows only Aklavik as YKD and no mention of Kincardine. IATA codes are a right pain. Cheers. CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 13:04, 23 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

There are multiple problems with the IATA codes. As you search through the IATA codes you end up finding that many airports don't and never will have a code, eg private/government run airports like Pelican Airport. Then you get Boundary Bay Airport, the logical code, ZBB, turns out to be a Danish railway station with an IATA code. Navaids, as you pointed out also may be the same as the IATA code, our VOR is YCB. And of course the general public is used to seeing the IATA codes on their baggage tags so the info needs to be included. The biggest problem is that we have the CFS making an easy to find a fairly accurate code but there is no accurate IATA database. CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 11:07, 24 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Marsh Lake[edit]

I would like to keep the disambig page because I am currently working through and adding all the lakes to each of the counties of Minnesota (there are a lot!) and then making each lake name a redirect or part of a disambig page. ice road[edit]

Yes you're right, winter roads are used on the muskeg, not ice roads; I'll make the appropriate changes. About the Fort Chip ice roads, I know that a section of the road to Fort Mac crosses the lake, and that road is still built yearly.
