Question

Hello there, I saw you posted on my talk page. Considering you seem to be quite open to newcomers, I'll just ask you my question right away: I've been doing research and have been editing an article on the Arms Industry - I used a picture that is copyrighted from Oxfam. I wasn't too sure about whether or not I would be allowed to actually use it, so I marked the copyright status as "uncomfirmed".

{{somewebsite}}

How do I change this? --Ludvig 17:27, 22 December 2005 (UTC)

It seems as if the image is copyrighted (its even stated on the picture itself) and unless the copyright holders explicitly release the copyright, or it falls into a certain blanket category, it can't be used. The image will be deleted (unless you can get written permission from the copyright holders). For further information, see Wikipedia:fair use and Image copyright tags. Hope that helps. Hei

Sverdrup❞ 12:48, 1 June 2006 (UTC)

Image copyright problem with Image:Gipsy_kings.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Gipsy_kings.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

ELECTROMATIC AfD

Hey, you didn't list it on the AfD page! Don't worry, I have already done it for you and voted for deletion. --Neigel von Teighen 16:55, 8 October 2006 (UTC)

Hehe, sorry, I completely forgot! Thanks for the help :D --Ludvig 16:57, 8 October 2006 (UTC)

Diaphragm

If you read the diaphragm article, you will see that the diaphragm rests against the pubic bone. That means the dome of the diaphragm covers all the surface next to the bladder, and the anterior rim rests against the urethra. Both images show how a cervical cap fits (covering only the cervix and not the vaginal wall); the top image might be better for cavity rim caps like Oves and Prentif that adhere directly to the cervix, the bottom image better for Vimule and FemCap which adhere to the vaginal walls immediately surrounding the cervix. Neither image shows how the diaphragm covers much of the vaginal wall, or how it can apply pressure to the urethra. The diaphragm image is badly made.

I intend to draw in a correctly placed diaphragm on a better image when I have time, but until then I believe the poorer-quality image is more accurate for the diaphragm article. Lyrl Talk Contribs 01:35, 23 November 2006 (UTC)

Concordia Newsletter

NEWSLETTER

Concordia is currently trying to relaunch. I, and all the members of the ex-council, wish to welcome new members to the group. We are a group who aim to promote remaining civil, in an environment where messages can easily be interpretated wrongly.

Help out now!

  • Try and help people remain civil! Talk to them, and help them in any way possible. Do not be afraid to use the talk page.
  • Give people the Civility Barnstar.
  • Make and spread some Wikitokens so people know there are people to help if they want assistance.
  • Add banners or logos to your userpage to show your support.
  • Suggest some ideas! Add 'em to the talk page.

We are a community, so can only work though community contributions and support. It's the helping that counts.

Decision Making

The council expired one month ago, but due to the current position of the group the current council will remain until the position of the group can be assessed, and whether it would be sensible to keep Concordia going. For most decisions, however, it will be decided by all who choose to partake in discussions. I am trying to relaunch because of the vast amounts of new members we have received, demonstrating that the aims are supported.

If you wish to opt of of further talk-page communications, just let us know here.

Mjosa

I'd argue that adding a (citation needed) is not normally a minor edit. Presumably the goal is to get the original author's attention; not all of us watch minor edits all the time. Williamborg (Bill) 04:27, 11 January 2007 (UTC)

Well, I guess I won't use minor edits for (citation needed) anymore...--Ludvig 21:50, 11 January 2007 (UTC)

WikiProject France

Hello! We are a group of editors working to improve the quality of France related articles. You look like someone who might be interested in joining us in the France WikiProject and so I thought I'd drop you a line and invite you! We'd love to have you in our project :-) STTW (talk) 21:58, 14 January 2007 (UTC)

Université de Montréal

Hello and thanks for the comment. I'm new here, so I need to learn how things work :) So, how do I put a source to material that isn't online, as I believe Maclean's University issue not to be?Dusis 16:58, 16 January 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Mulemba Xangola.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Mulemba Xangola.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Zucchabar.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Zucchabar.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 03:20, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

I see you are a user located in Montréal, you may be interested in: Wikipedia:Meetup/Montreal. Please add your name to the "Interested" or to the "Not interested" list. Date is set for May 3rd 2008 and Buffet La Stanza is the proposed location. If you have another idea for the location; propose away! Please pass on to any Montreal Wikis you may be aware of and who are not yet listed as interested, may be interested, or not interested. Pro bug catcher (talkcontribs). 04:30, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Karlogo.gif)

Thanks for uploading Image:Karlogo.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 16:04, 15 July 2008 (UTC)

Image copyright problem with Image:Karlogo.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Karlogo.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

I removed the logo because it appeared superfluous and too big. But, apparently, many university infoboxes do have these kinds of logos, so it could be reinserted (I merely commented it out). Reducing the image size a little still might not be a bad idea.--Boffob (talk) 23:13, 13 November 2008 (UTC)

AfD nomination of Fédération des associations étudiantes du campus de l'Université de Montréal

I have nominated Fédération des associations étudiantes du campus de l'Université de Montréal, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Fédération des associations étudiantes du campus de l'Université de Montréal. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. Max Weber

Thanks for that rewording, I was wary of doing it myself as I know little of him and didn't want to make a mess of the lead of a featured article. Fences and windows (talk) 14:51, 21 April 2009 (UTC)

Your rollback request

Hi M3taphysical, I have granted your account rollback rights in accordance with your request. Please remember that rollback should be used to revert vandalism/spam, and that using rollback to revert-war or to revert edits that you simply disagree with can lead to its removal. For practice, you may wish to see Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback. Good luck. Acalamari 16:04, 15 May 2009 (UTC)

mechanism

Hello--I see your comment at Talk:Mechanism (sociology). I'm familiar with mechanism design from game theory/economics, but not a sociology-specific meaning, or a more general social-science meaning. I'm thinking of nominating the article for deletion. Is there some substance which could be added which would make it worth keeping? CRETOG8(t/c) 05:00, 10 July 2009 (UTC)

File permission problem with File:27pictoputonmap.jpg

File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:27pictoputonmap.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MBisanz talk 20:53, 18 July 2009 (UTC)

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot.
