G20 reply[edit]

I have no problem with an image being replaced by something of better quality. The majority of my images are placeholders until something better can be created, as an image of a brake-dusted car in a parking lot is better than no image. However, I feel I was fully justified in my edits per Wikipedia policy, in that 3/4 front images are required for infoboxes when available. The same 3/4 rear image appearing twice on the same page isn't as helpful. But creating an appropriate image of a clean car in a nice setting was exactly what the article needed. If more Wikipedia users could do the same, the auto articles would be better illustrated. Thanks for your contribution. IFCAR 13:08, 15 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Another G20 reply[edit]

The G20 article is the only one I have seen with paint codes included. You're right, the Bonneville page doesn't need that equipment table. I haven't gotten around to taking care of that. I'm sure there's plenty of other articles with info like that. But the G20 article was put on the project talk page, so that's why I noticed it. Our "standards" are more or less shown in articles like Mini Moke and Talbot Tagora. --Sable232 00:42, 12 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I will relay your concerns to the members of Wikipedia:WikiProject Automobiles. Frankly, I'm tired of the whole G20 debacle and would rather not be involved. Infiniti G20[edit]

Don't attack me. You are the only one who seems to think that those belong in the article. Those violate WP standards, because they read like a stat sheet/how to guide. Maybe Wikibooks is better for you. In that, you can write how to guides, statistics, and there are less limitations. I strongly advise you to read WP:IINFO. Under it it is listed "Statistics" and "How to guides". I personally am going to see if the page can get protected. That is the only way that we can seem to iron this out. Hopefully we can finally find a compromise. Plus, please try to work with us, not against us. I do not wish to get into a gigantic argument over this. Karrmann 22:40, 12 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

While you might not think that you are attacking me, you still come off blunt in your reply. I can name off times where you either insult me or try to make it seem as if I am inferior to you. Well, I have been editing for two and a half years, and I have a great understanding of wikipedia policies, so I don't see where you come off saying like I don't know what I am talking about, or if you act like you know the Wikipedia policies better than me. Second, I know you are from a car club. I am a member of one myself, the Taurus Car Club of America. Well, they have their own Wiki that is packed with little stats and packs of info like the paint codes and troubleshooting like you have tried to insert to the Infiniti G20 article here. Now, while statistical info like that is not acceptible ehre on Wikipedia, you can go to Wikia.com and request your personal wiki for your site. it costs no money, and you run it, 100%. You control what goes there. It can be your personal wikipedia, but about the Infiniti G20. You can link to it on your site, and you and the members of your club can contribute to it. You can also use Wikibooks, which are like little how to guides and stuff that you cna write. That would also be a sutible source of info. We can a also link to those off of the Wikipedia article, so it will allow many readers to see it. That is the best thing to do. Just putting the information back is getting nowhere and causing headaches for both you and us at Wikiproject Automobiles. Now, I do not want to start a war ove rthis. In fact, I perfer to take the high road, and help you out. You can try those two sites I pointed out to add that information, or create a technical guide/how to guide for the Infinit G20. If you want, I can help to get you started. I have worked with Wikibooks and Wikia before, so if you want, I can help you to get an infiniti G20 Wiki created. To tell teh truth, I do like the Infiniti G20, quite a bit to tell the truth. That is why I am trying to help you find the proper outlet for that info. That info is useful, but it is just in the wrong place. Kinda like shoving a square peg in a round hole. Now, I already pointed otu those two sites. OK, I tried to be nice, but apparently you just want to be difficult, instead of teying to work this out calmly like I want. So, first it seems that you were reading some posts Wiarthurhu made on my talk page.Well, let me explain who Wiarthurhu was. He would often write many articles with his POV on the subject, as if it were an article from Motor Trend, like as an example, he would do something like claim that the Plymouth Reliant would be a "Lowly grochery getter" or that the Jeep Wrangler was "A favorite for teenage girls to usse to cruise the streets". In fact, his constant injection of his blantent POV into articles caused many to get deleted. He would also add pictures of toy cars to substitute for pictures of real cars, and would often add pointless fancruft to the AMC MAtador article. We would go around undoing many his changes, as they would often as I explained be plain POV, and were just not fit for an encyclopedia. So he would give us a hard time for it. I would revert fancrufty/POV revisions he made to articles, and he would call me a "Viscious teen vandal", and would often act like he knows more about cars and I don't know crap about anything, based solely off my age. So he would tell me to stop editing because of course, since he is an adult, he knows everything baout cars, and since I am a teenager, I drool all over myself from my stupidity. (Note sarcasm) Well, long story short, he was a royal pain in the ass, and eventually got blocked because he pissed off the wrong people, and they ended his days editing. Second, I don't know if you are 100% on Wiki policies yet. Yes, we want to build a complete encyclopedia here, but we also want it to be a professional, narrative history of the car. Statistics, codes, how tos for maitenence etc are just not fit for here. As I pointed out earlier, Wikibooks, a sister site of Wikipedia, would be a more approiate area for that. I strongly suggest that you read Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not to get an idea of what isn't approiate for Wikipedia articles. And um, just to clear it up, we are not trying to be trolls and it is nothig personal against you if we revert/change up your edits. But, the whole thing about all the stats is that with all teh codes, how to guides etc are just confusing to the reader. They will be confused adn would not know what the article is about. They won't know if the article is a history of the car, a guide to the car's options, or a how to guide for maitenence and soultions to common problems. Also, I noticed that all of our car featured articles are of cars that only sold one generation, or is obscure an dnobody has ever heard of it, like the Talbot Tagora. So, I instead suggest that you get ideas to improve the G20 article from Ford Taurus and Lincoln Town Car articles. Both are about well known, best selling cars, and are about cars that sold multiple generations. They are both Good Articles, and are probably the best we have abotu multi generation vehicles.
