Film stubs[edit]

Hello! When you create articles about films, don't forget to add {{film-stub}} (remove the tl| first) and a category for the year that the film was produced, i.e. Category:1941 films|name of film (with two square brackets surrounding the category). The Wikimedia Foundation's Board of Trustees has ruled that: "Where the user has been vandalizing articles or persistently behaving in a disruptive way, [personal information] data may be released to assist in the targeting of IP blocks, or to assist in the formulation of a complaint to relevant Internet Service Providers." If you may have inadvertently defamed someone in an article, do two things:

  1. If the material is still there, remove it immediately.
  2. Leave a note on the administrator's noticeboard saying that you have accidentally included defamatory claims in a named article or articles. Don't repeat the claims. The claim can then be deleted from the page history.

Please do not remove content from Wikipedia. It is considered vandalism. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. You have recently deleted properly cited and sourced material from the page Fred Astaire. Please familiarise yourself with Wikipedies policies on NPOV and Wikipedia:Citing sources. Suggestion for resolving this dispute[edit]

As best I understand it, you disagree with the reliance on dance commentators such as Arlene Croce and John Mueller when describing dance routines performed in Fred Astaire's musical films. However, the alternative to not relying on these published sources, is either to make no comment whatsoever or to create a description based on personal observations. The former would deprive readers of any content - as these authors are effectively the only source of professional commentary on the actual dances of Fred Astaire, and the latter would violate Wikipedia's policy on No Original Research. While these articles certainly rely on these sources, they in no way violate the intellectual property rights of these authors who are always mentioned in the references. I'm sure these articles can always be improved, and the citations tightened up, and I am always happy to do this. So, I suggest that where you are unhappy about specific aspects in these articles, request a citation on the talk page of the article involved or on my talk page, or use the fact template within the article itself. You also disagree with the prominance given to favourable views on Rogers, but this is fully consistent with Wikipedia's policy on NPOV. I can understand that you might think me a fan of Rogers, but that just isn't so. If you examine the article I have written from scratch, only one involves Rogers, all of the other film articles feature other partners of Astaire. Personally I have no time for "fandom".
