Welcome! I've restored the templates at the top of this page- in general, we avoid removing these until the problems they describe are fixed. That way, other users are more likely to notice that improvements are needed and work to help. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 21:30, 27 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Are these still problems? MythMe23 (talk) 21:34, 27 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yes. At least, it still isn't clear that this library is notable; has it been written about in reliable independent sources that could be cited? It doesn't seem that the sources you've added discuss the library at all. I see now that it isn't an 'orphan' any more, so that template could indeed be removed. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 21:41, 27 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I will look. Can the citations template be removed? MythMe23 (talk) 21:42, 27 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Definitely, once citations are added- that's newspaper articles, magazine articles, journal articles, and books about the Opus Archives and Research Center- not so much about the authors whose works are housed there. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 21:44, 27 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks so much. Does an OPUS newsletter count? Or does it have to be an outside source? MythMe23 (talk) 21:55, 27 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Outside sources are what's needed- the sources both verify that the information is accurate, and also verify that the subject is of interest to people other than the people who work at the library. :) That's why sourcing and notability tend to be problems that get solved simultaneously. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 21:57, 27 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Can the third party sources be the cited websites of other organizations that mention OPUS on their sites? 72.214.243.66 (talk) 18:09, 28 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You aren't looking for mentions, but for writing that will confirm the information in the article. If this is a significant academic library, surely some library journal has written articles about its work? -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 18:20, 28 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

OPUS is a fairly new research center that includes a small library, but mainly houses manuscripts and documents of scholars.

If it turns out that the organization simply doesn't meet Wikipedia's notability criteria, that's fine- you can leave a paragraph about it in the school's article, and request deletion by using the process described at WP:AFD. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 18:53, 28 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

OPUS is in the process of being written about in an upcoming issue of a local independent newspaper. Would this count? MythMe23 (talk) 19:14, 28 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

That would be one; WP:ORG requires "multiple, independent, nontrivial reliable sources" -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 19:08, 28 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

OPUS was interviewed on a radio station - the audio file is available online. Is that another? MythMe23 (talk) 19:14, 28 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It's really difficult for me to evaluate any source I haven't seen, but you can review the reliable sources guidelines for yourself and see whether they apply to the sources in question. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 19:40, 28 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

What about the research fieldwork paper published (linked on OPUS website) by a grant recipient of OPUS? MythMe23 (talk) 22:22, 28 May 2010 (UTC) MythMe23 (talk) 18:26, 24 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

{{helpme}}Also, what about the newspress article written about the libraries that is the 1st citation source? MythMe23 (talk) 18:26, 24 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Why don't you try asking at WP:RS/N- it's a noticeboard/helpdesk for exactly this ort of question, so the people there will be better informed than I am! :) HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 19:32, 24 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Can the independent source tag be removed from the OPUS page? MythMe23 (talk) 22:06, 24 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
