MurmurHash[edit]

Hi Phil, thanks for the discussion. I never saw the original MurmurHash page, but I'm rather surprised that MurmurHash was deleted based on its AfD [1] which seemed rather inconclusive to me.

On the other hand, based on google, I do think its use is less widespread than FNV: the google scholar searches seemed particularly convincing to me. My personal take would be that Wikipedia would probably be better off with a short page about Murmurhash, but I don't feel nearly so strongly about MurmurHash as I felt about FNV. I've never participated in deletion review but I don't think I, personally, would find it worth the effort. Your mileage may vary, of course. Happy editing!Gruntler (talk) 08:17, 8 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your feedback. I initiated the AfD on FNV based on MurmurHash's deletion, figuring that neither one had much in the way of WP:RS. My feeling now is that both of them had badly bloated articles, but MurmurHash should probably have been trimmed down like FNV and Jenkins, not deleted. But, like you, I'm not sure if I feel strongly enough to take the effort of recreating it, either. I guess I'll give it some time and come back to it. You have been accused of sockpuppetry. Please refer to Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Spotfixer for evidence. Please make sure you make yourself familiar with notes for the suspect before editing the evidence page. - Wolfkeeper 03:58, 17 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
