please note[edit]

we already have

you need to take these into account when creating new lists/articles - cheers JarrahTree 09:09, 11 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

also[edit]

if you have a list - all very well to be able to link to things - but you also need to have WP:RS or WP:CITE

so at the best - you need to have at the bottom of the article = Notes/ext links to verify you are not into WP:OR or other issues....

if you are going into the swan river, actually have a look at that article to make sure you arent repeating things that already exist JarrahTree 10:49, 11 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Well worth checking very carefully about what WP:RS says about websites that are related to the managing authorities or companies that directly relate to the islands JarrahTree 12:18, 11 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

bare urls[edit]

haha I do them all the time - Wikipedia:Bare_URLs - there are ways of being more informative - by putting them in a better format JarrahTree 11:51, 11 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

uploading photos[edit]

to wp en can be a problem - you really should go to commons for that - some eds do get snarky about files not on commons JarrahTree 11:55, 11 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

dont be suprised[edit]

if someone reverts that intro or parts of it - see WP:Weasel and WP:MOS maybe not, but very very close - g'night JarrahTree 15:38, 11 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute to Wikipedia, introducing inappropriate pages, such as Joshuah Island, is not in accordance with our policies. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Under section G3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, the page has been nominated for deletion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. File:Aerial view of Rottnest Island.jpg[edit]

Did you take this picture, or did you get it from [1]? If you didn't take it, then there is a copyright problem and we'll have to delete the image. agtx 17:55, 11 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on File:Aerial view of Rottnest Island.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from URL. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

The article Little Island (Western Australia) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No attempt at providing WP:RS or specific locality details

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. A tag has been placed on File:Kangaroo on Heirisson Island with Perth City in the Background.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

Hello. I am Diannaa and I am an administrator on this wiki. I noticed you are uploading images, all of which have been tagged for deletion or are already deleted. Please don't upload any more photos that you find on the Internet or elsewhere. Photos that you find online are copyright, and we are not allowed to display them on this wiki. There's more information about copyrights and how it applies to Wikipedia at Wikipedia:FAQ/Copyright. Copyright law and its application are complex matters, and you should not upload any further images until you have taken the time to read and understand our policies. Continuing on your present course will likely lead to a block. Thank you. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 13:01, 12 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Why did you delete the image with the two swans nesting? I personally took those photos and didn't get them from the internet.

For your edification[edit]

Please read WP:SIGN, WP:N, and WP:OR very carefully, it will save you a lot of time and angst if you can adequately understand the ramifications. Thanks JarrahTree 05:15, 13 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

And, if you are indeed so keen to do islands the two books that would save you a lot of pain are:-

Murray, Ian; Hercock, Marion; Murray, Ian; Hercock, Marion (2008), Where on the coast is that?, Hesperian Press, ISBN 978-0-85905-452-2
Brearley, Anne; Hodgkin, E. P. (Ernest Pease); Ernest Hodgkin Trust for Estuary Education and Research; National Trust of Australia (W.A.); University of Western Australia Press; Brearley, Anne; Hodgkin, Ernest (2005), Ernest Hodgkin's Swanland : estuaries and coastal lagoons of South-western Australia, University of Western Australia Press for the Ernest Hodgkin Trust for Estuary Education and Research and National Trust of Australia (WA), ISBN 978-1-920694-38-8

Quote or cite from those two books, and show a genuine comprehension of WP:N and what it entails and you are likely to increase the potential of other editors to WP:AGF with your edits. JarrahTree 05:30, 13 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

A single online resource 'does not establish notability of anything on wikipedia - remember to learn to sign JarrahTree 05:53, 13 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

ok[edit]

so ignoring messages is one thing, but learning to WP:SIGN would help JarrahTree 08:36, 14 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Island mania[edit]

There was nothing specifically directed in Perth waterfront development proposals that directly states anything about islands. Also Environment of Australia is exactly that, you dont add small isolated items - it is a broad generic item - if you were to add what you added, then by precedent and system - you would have to add every island in australia to it. It is not how wikipedia links work JarrahTree 10:23, 18 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@RelaxtJosh: Please stop adding Islands of Perth, Western Australia to the "see also" section of (seemingly) every article about Perth. It's just not relevant in many cases. Mitch Ames (talk) 08:33, 31 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

... Likewise articles that are not about Perth, eg Lake island. Mitch Ames (talk) 08:36, 31 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

November 2016[edit]

Stop icon You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you vandalize Wikipedia by deliberately introducing incorrect information, as you did at Islands of Perth, Western Australia. there is no Joshua Island, non of the sources provided support the your claim please cease from adding hoaxes to Wikipedia or your account will be blocked Gnangarra 08:19, 20 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Stop icon with clock
You have been blocked from editing for a period of 48 hours for violating copyright policy by copying text or images into Wikipedia from another source without verifying permission. You have been previously warned that this is against policy, but have persisted, as you did at File:Sir David Attenborough on Carnac Island with Australian fur seals.jpg. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions. If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you may request an unblock by first reading the guide to appealing blocks, then adding the following text to the bottom of your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  Gnangarra 08:24, 20 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

GAN: Islands of Perth, Western Australia[edit]

I'm presuming that my edits here accurately reflect what you intended with your edits. If not please say so, and/or revert them, and/or simply delete/withdraw the GAN. Mitch Ames (talk) 09:37, 24 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

December 2016[edit]

Your deliberate re-instating reverted edits from the past and also adding nonsensical associative edits will see you blocked for a longer duration next time you try that stuff... JarrahTree 09:09, 31 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
