Lego Harry Potter: Years 1–4[edit]

Hi, Wikipedia is not a gameguide, and does not list how many unlockables are available, or a simple list of characters. It is perfectly fine for us to be vague and not have this information because we are not targeting people who own the game and want to know details, but people who just want to learn about it overall. Thanks, Blake (Talk·Edits) 22:02, 18 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to the Glee task force![edit]

I wanted to welcome you to the Glee task force (aka WikiProject Glee), and thank you for joining us. Thanks also for being willing to take on Mike Chang and Puck!

Remembering what it was like when I joined about four months ago, as a novice to Wikipedia, I was surprised when some of my edits were undone. They looked fine to me! But Wikipedia has its own way of doing things, and you'll gradually pick them up. I'm still tripping over things even today; my experience is that you learn and move forward.

I mention this because I reversed one of your edits today: the "Season 3" section you added to the Mike Chang page's Storylines. On character pages, the Storylines section is for events that have taken place in already broadcast episodes. Information on future episodes, even from reliable sources, should not go there. It's part of the whole WP:CRYSTAL thing: Wikipedia is not a crystal ball, and there are many slips or last-minute changes prior to airing. Actors have shot scenes that are ultimately cut shortly before broadcast: I'm working on improving the "Special Education" article at the moment, and have discovered that there were filmed scenes with Dustin Goolsby (Cheyenne Jackson) and Carl Howell (John Stamos) that were cut from the final show, even though publicity photos (still available!) include a scene between Dustin and Will.

Another thing to think about on character pages is how important an event is. I removed one from Mike's page—I don't know who first included it—about Puck telling Quinn he was texting Mike when he was actually sexting Santana. That has nothing to do with Mike, since he wasn't actually involved in the texting or the lie, so I removed it. In general, storylines need to keep to important information, and what may have been important after 22 episodes may be less important after 44. One minor point in terms of formatting: please be sure to put quotes around episode names, like "Special Education" or "Audition".

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them on my talk page—just start a new section—or on the Glee project's discussion page (ditto). BlueMoonset (talk) 20:04, 21 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I've reorganized the Mike Chang and Puck pages so that all the sections they will need to eventually get to Good Article status are now there for you to expand upon, with at least starter material for each section to justify the section headers. Are you still interested in working on the articles? BlueMoonset (talk) 20:08, 27 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Reliable sources and verifiability[edit]

Ryan, I just reverted your addition of a summary of the plot of "The Purple Piano Project". For such material to be added to a Wikipedia article, it needs to have a reliable, referenced source. Fox press releases are a good source, press interviews with the cast are another, as are news sources like TVLine or E! Online or Entertainment Weekly. However, the various fan sites and fan wikis are not; their standards and requirements are not as rigorous as Wikipedia's, so their material cannot be copied and used here.

As it says below every edit window, "Encyclopedic content must be verifiable." The Glee task force works hard at making sure that all the information on the various Glee pages is properly sourced. The goal here is not to be first, the goal is to have referenced, reliable information to back up everything that's written. I learned this the hard way: even applying logic to events in the episode isn't enough to sustain assertions in an article. (For example, in any logical world, Sue punching out the wife of the Lieutenant Governor of Ohio would have landed her in a heap of trouble, but the inference that she could be in trouble was stricken from the episode's article ... and rightfully so, as subsequently it seemed that nothing at all happened to her because of it.)
