No dramas about the changes in your sandbox (not important just aesthetics) - sent you an email about some thoughts - am happy to work on some of the respective album articles see if I can't whip them into shape whilst you're working on the discography. Dan arndt (talk) 03:57, 20 June 2008 (UTC)

Where to start - I guess with their first album... good luck with the discography. Dan arndt (talk) 04:06, 20 June 2008 (UTC)
Have done some preliminary edits for Icehouse - just a few of the basics, will follow through on the other albums. Dan arndt (talk) 05:16, 20 June 2008 (UTC)
Will include details of "Icehouse" in the article Icehouse by the band Icehouse, how confusing is all that :D...Dan arndt (talk) 07:21, 20 June 2008 (UTC)
What do you intend to do with Love in Motion do you want to incorporate it into Primitive Man or do you feel it warrants retention as a separate article? Dan arndt (talk) 03:30, 26 June 2008 (UTC)
That would be my view as well with the Love in Motion (1983 album) being merged with Primitive Man (album), the Love in Motion (1996 album) being renamed to Love in Motion (Icehouse album), which then leads the opportunity to create "Love in Motion (song)". Have put a merge tag on the 1983 album and have renamed the 1986 album - hence the redlinks.
I have also corrected the chart listings for the various Icehouse albums and singles, in accordance with the Kent Report - most of them were right have just changed a few of the singles.
Will have a closer look at Heroes (Icehouse album) and The Berlin Tapes (album) and let you know. Dan arndt (talk) 01:59, 27 June 2008 (UTC)
I guess we'll bothy keep on working on the various albums (similar to HG) and see whether we can't get some sense & order to the subject. Dan arndt (talk) 03:24, 27 June 2008 (UTC)
According to the credits on the back cover of the album it is Keith Welsh who plays bass on Icehouse. Dan arndt (talk) 05:12, 27 June 2008 (UTC)
Good work on the creation of those additional articles for the various Icehouse singles - have been pretty busy at work so haven't progressed as fast as I would have liked on the topic. Will try and see if I can find some better images of the singles covers, particularly "Walls". BTW you're right about the typo on things to do list - I think I'm being a bit ambitious and am torn between those and finishing our work on Icehouse etc. Dan arndt (talk) 09:46, 30 June 2008 (UTC)

Excellent work on tracking the various album and single covers - makes the articles look 100% better.Dan arndt (talk) 06:15, 9 July 2008 (UTC)

DYK nomination

Hi. I've nominated Sebastian Hardie, an article you worked on, for consideration to appear on the Main Page as part of Wikipedia:Did you know. You can see the hook for the article at Template talk:Did you know#Articles created/expanded on July 26, where you can improve it if you see fit. Thanks, Admrb♉ltz (tclog) 04:31, 31 July 2008 (UTC)

DYK

Updated DYK query On 31 July, 2008, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Sebastian Hardie, which you created or substantially expanded. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.

--Wafulz (talk) 13:07, 31 July 2008 (UTC)

I've asked about notability at the relevant project. I'm not that convinced either, but if they say so I'll merge it, otherwise... Thanx, Ben--Bsnowball (talk) 12:57, 4 August 2008 (UTC)

There was nothing in the Freak Box talk page to move. --Wolfer68 (talk) 17:52, 8 August 2008 (UTC)

Since there was nothing there, is it ok to just redirect a talk page? --Wolfer68 (talk) 21:04, 8 August 2008 (UTC)

The nerve of some people - trying to fix an article so it achieves GA status - unbelievable! (will take a look buddy) Dan arndt (talk) 06:25, 13 August 2008 (UTC)

Did You Know ? that Icehouse's debut album made The Age newspaper's Top 50 Australian Albums of all time coming in at number #38? Take a look at the Sydney Morning Herald's article. It also made #27 on the Australian Independent Record Labels Association (AIR) list of Greatest Independent Albums of All Time. Dan arndt (talk) 06:45, 13 August 2008 (UTC)
Am a bit curious in the article it states that Icehouse were inducted at the 2006 ARIA Hall of Fame and then goes on to state that they performed in September 2007 - I though that they actually performed at the 2006 HoF event? I've also found a reference to say they played at the 2006 APRA Music Awards [1] - might want to check. Dan arndt (talk) 06:56, 13 August 2008 (UTC)
Did You Know ? that Keith Walsh is currently co-publisher of The Music Network and a partner in Rough Cut Music Publishing. He is also one of the patrons for the Australian Music Prize? Dan arndt (talk) 07:02, 13 August 2008 (UTC)
Yes - I knew that it was Flowers debut album Icehouse - am not that ignorant (just lazy) - have done some minor formatting to try and mak sense of all the '-' in the article. Dan arndt (talk) 07:11, 13 August 2008 (UTC)
Realise that they were 'one off performances' but worthy of including in the article. The 2007 performance was also a 'one off' just that it's hard to understand why it's included in the article. As for watching the 'Battle of the Choirs' you have to be joking - right? Dan arndt (talk) 07:15, 13 August 2008 (UTC)
You are quite welcome for the review, I saw that the article was in the backlog, and the title really caught my eye, and thus giving the article a GA review. :P If you have any other articles up for GA, don't hesitate to hit me and tell me about it. ;) --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 03:58, 14 August 2008 (UTC)

CONGRATULATIONS ON GETTING ICEHOUSE TO GA STATUS
job well done - suitable recognition for all your hard work at last. Dan arndt (talk) 04:42, 14 August 2008 (UTC)

Collaboration

Thought I sent you an email - check and let me know. Dan arndt (talk) 06:33, 14 August 2008 (UTC)

Probably top of my list would be Paul Kelly - really under-done article on one of Australia's best songwriters. Dan arndt (talk) 08:49, 14 August 2008 (UTC)

Paul Kelly

I feel like the tortise & the hare - with you racing miles ahead - was going to have a look at all the singles released ('cause the current table only lists those singles which charted) - at this stage I have just been try to reference all the comments within the article - will try and pick up the pace. Dan arndt (talk) 09:32, 18 August 2008 (UTC)

have hit your sandbox with some of the awards that I have been able to find - he did win three awards at the Victorian Country Music Awards for his collaboartion with Uncle Bill (Smoke) - I can't find anything on the 'Golden Trombone Award'. Will keep searching... Dan arndt (talk) 05:08, 19 August 2008 (UTC)
Mystery solved - wasn't a golden trombome but a 'golden guitar' have included details on your awards section - as for creating a template (good idea) but maybe hold off until we get the article in better shape - still working on a full discography. Dan arndt (talk) 03:12, 20 August 2008 (UTC)
Keep getting sidetracked - being working on "From Little Things Big Things Grow" - what do you think? Dan arndt (talk) 04:19, 20 August 2008 (UTC)
Sorry didn't mean to get you sidetracked as well Dan arndt (talk) 04:56, 20 August 2008 (UTC)

Still feel its a little raw - lots more info to be added - keep getting sidetracked (but wanted to get rid of those red links) - will look at referencing up some more of the body - will look at adding some details about overseas tours and notable performances. Dan arndt (talk) 09:10, 21 August 2008 (UTC)

Need to include comments about participation in GetUp Mob - (refer "From Little Things Big Things Grow"). Dan arndt (talk) 09:59, 21 August 2008 (UTC)
Like the feel of list of Paul Kelly awards & nomination (sandbox 2) - always assumed that it would be a separate article/list given its size - little bit more work but better result - similarly I see a separate page for the discography (but we'll get to that later) - then once that's all done we can work on a template - sounds like a plan? Dan arndt (talk) 03:40, 25 August 2008 (UTC)

Did you have a look at the comments about the rating of the article - not certain where to find a section of 'prose' - any thoughts? Dan arndt (talk) 01:00, 20 August 2008 (UTC)

Definately 'B' Class now... Dan arndt (talk) 04:05, 20 August 2008 (UTC)
B Class status achieved!!! Dan arndt (talk) 00:50, 21 August 2008 (UTC)

PK Awards & Nominations

Definetely looking realy good - can't fault the work at all. Dan arndt (talk) 01:14, 26 August 2008 (UTC)

Email

Is your email down? keep getting delivery failure... Dan arndt (talk) 07:50, 1 September 2008 (UTC)

Looks like you can send (got your test) but can't recieve. Dan arndt (talk) 08:05, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
Check out this website to see what I was talking about. Dan arndt (talk) 08:06, 1 September 2008 (UTC)

PK Discography

Have sent you an email with a compiled list of PK singles - wasn't certain which draft version to start amending so thought that this might be easier - will try and see what other research I can uncover. Dan arndt (talk) 02:36, 27 August 2008 (UTC)

Splitting it into sections on each band/group might help distinguishing the various releases particular when we get to Uncle Bill, Professor Ratbaggy etc - when I have a look at my singles list I release that I haven't covered those releases under those associations... Maybe we should seek some guidance from Wikipedia:WikiProject Discographies one of the editors there may help. Dan arndt (talk) 03:50, 27 August 2008 (UTC)
Have managed to track down release dates for all the singles (well just the month and year) do you want to add a separate column for the month or should we just add each under the first colum - will mean that each single will require a separate row rather than combining them into years as they currently are. Will rearrange the order to reflect actual releases. Also do you want to add a columns for the record company and catalogue numbers? Dan arndt (talk) 05:09, 28 August 2008 (UTC)
Have added a couple of additional releases relating to Words and Music - which means I've stuffed up the table a bit - any though to adding additional columns as per my suggestion... Interesting enough I have that "Before to Long" was released in November 1997 but I'm guessing that this was an error in my research and that it was actually released in November 1987 (or possibly 1986) as it was recorded on Gossip with PK&M. Will track it down and let you know - which means we are getting close to 50 single releases. Dan arndt (talk) 09:25, 28 August 2008 (UTC)
Checked your email? For singles I don't think we need to include month or day (unnecessary clutter) likewise catalogue numbers. Oh and try "Before Too Long" instead of "Before to Long"! I'll have a look at the added singles;Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 09:29, 28 August 2008 (UTC)
Have found a copy of the single and it was released in 1986 - it also reached #15 on the singles charts - will check my emails in future. Dan arndt (talk) 09:37, 28 August 2008 (UTC)
Have a look at this article it is a blog site so can't be used as a reference but maybe fills in the gap that we were looking at - can't find any hard references yet (still searching). Dan arndt (talk) 10:07, 28 August 2008 (UTC)
I thought "Darling It Hurts" reached #16 on the Aus singles charts? Dan arndt (talk) 23:31, 28 August 2008 (UTC)
According to Encyclopedia of Australian Rock and Pop by Ian McFarlane (1999) and a few other references they all seem to indicate the single reached #16 - will check the Kent Report next time I'm at the State Reference Library to try and confirm its exact chart position.Dan arndt (talk) 01:27, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
Gossip achieved gold record status upon its release and went on to sell over 100,000 units. Dan arndt (talk) 04:48, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
Given that it sold over 100,000 units then it should be recognised as a platinum record for sales - will try and find some confirmation of its platinum status. Dan arndt (talk) 05:43, 1 September 2008 (UTC)

Am having a hard time trying to work out what is still outstanding on the PK discography FLC review - is there anything that needs looking at? Dan arndt (talk) 02:41, 15 September 2008 (UTC)

Yep the numbers should be fine... What else needs fixing Dan arndt (talk) 03:03, 15 September 2008 (UTC)

EPs

Roll on Summer and How to Make Gravy were both EPs rather than albums - given that in the charts EPs are listed in the singles charts as opposed to the album charts shouldn't we remove from the studio release table and just leave in the singles table? Alternatively in the studio release table you should include the chart details... Also The Australian released an exclusive 4 track EP, togther with The Weekend Australian Magazine, prior to the release of Nothing But A Dream. I have a copy of the EP and was trying to work out how to include it in our lists. Dan arndt (talk) 06:00, 1 September 2008 (UTC)

Fair enough - check out my sandbox for the draft on the exclusive The Weekend Australian Magazine EP release. (also sent you an email regarding a discography site - you might want to check out). Dan arndt (talk) 06:50, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
Will create the article if you want to include it in your lists etc. Dan arndt (talk) 07:23, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
According to the credits on the cover of Paul Kelly Exclusive CD the video for "Somewhere in the City" was filmed by Knucklehead International - unfortunately the video clip doesn't show any credits at the end. In saying that I managed to track down some more clips & their directors. Dan arndt (talk) 01:04, 2 September 2008 (UTC)
Try the CV for Marin Johnson who was the focus puller for the clip - Michael Williams was the Director of Photography. Dan arndt (talk) 01:28, 2 September 2008 (UTC)

Have included Won't You Come Around on the album list as it was released as an EP - I realise that I'll have to create an article for it but that shouldn't be so hard (have found a few conflicts relating to its release dates so will see what I can find). Dan arndt (talk) 08:51, 2 September 2008 (UTC)

DVDs

Have you got a reference for the DVD - Ways and Means by PK & the Boon Companions yet? Dan arndt (talk) 01:28, 2 September 2008 (UTC)

Singles

It would appear that "Midnight Spares" was the name of a 1982 Australian movie and it is likely tha PK wrote/performed the theme - which may or may not have been "Love is the Law"... (still chasing details) Midnight Spares starred James Laurie, Gia Carides, Max Cullen and Bruce Spence. Dan arndt (talk) 07:14, 1 September 2008 (UTC)

Need to include "I Wish I was a Train" as although it was released by Troy Cassar-Daley it was released as being by TCD & PK - so technically a single by PK. Dan arndt (talk) 08:53, 2 September 2008 (UTC)
Check out this website for various covers of PK singles - goldmine. Dan arndt (talk) 04:50, 12 September 2008 (UTC)

I finally tracked the sucker down - the single is "Love is the Law" which was the theme from the movie Midnite Spares (released in 1983 on White Label Records) check it out!. Didn't want to make the change to the discography (as per your previous comments). I am still trying to find more details about "The Execution" as I'm not 100% certain it was released as a single. It appears that there were two different versions the first on the original release of Gossip but was remixed by Scott Litt for the North American release. Dan arndt (talk) 09:23, 15 September 2008 (UTC)

It appears that "The Shane Warne Song" was released by PK on YouTube - it was filmed by a friend Andrew Doherty at PK's house. It doesn't ever appear to have been a serious release but worth having a look at.Dan arndt (talk) 01:43, 16 September 2008 (UTC)
"Right Outta My Head" was released as a promotional single on Capitol Records in 2008.Dan arndt (talk) 01:55, 16 September 2008 (UTC)

Soundtracks

Have included mention of his contribution to the soundtrack for Seven Deadly Sins - don't know if you want to work that into the discography somehow... Dan arndt (talk) 02:44, 8 September 2008 (UTC)

On the album cover for the soundtrack - it lists Paul Kelly amongst others as the performers. Dan arndt (talk) 03:42, 8 September 2008 (UTC)
What about the soundtrack for Tom White - 2004 Australian film featuring Colin Friels, with the soundtrack by PK & the Boon Companions? Dan arndt (talk) 02:17, 9 September 2008 (UTC)

Quotes

The quote from John Pareles whilst printed in 1988 related to PK&tM performance the previous year... Dan arndt (talk) 07:36, 9 September 2008 (UTC)

How do you like this quote from PK:

"I want to write songs that don't get used up in the first couple of listens, that keep revealing things. As with every songwriter, I think, my staple song is the love song. Happy love songs are much harder to write than the sad ones. More and more as I've gone on, they're the songs I want to write. To me as a songwriter, that's a challenge: to write happy love songs without being banal, sentimental or smug."

Dan arndt (talk) 06:01, 10 September 2008 (UTC)

Nominations

I've been told that red links aren't a bad thing - they are a reminder that an article should be created for that topic, so it is not necessary to remove them - in saying that I'll try and work on the outstanding PK EP. Dan arndt (talk) 00:53, 10 September 2008 (UTC)

Template

Probably worth working on that template now.Dan arndt (talk) 00:53, 10 September 2008 (UTC)

Have sent you some thoughts via email.Dan arndt (talk) 04:51, 12 September 2008 (UTC)
Saw the Template and it looks good - maybe creating a separate list of members of groups that PK has been involved in could be the way to go. Dan arndt (talk) 02:39, 15 September 2008 (UTC)

Musical Style

The only thing lacking is a section about Paul Kelly's musical style - as I'm not a journalist I tend to stick with the facts as opposed to opinions but it is worth considering how we could incorporate something about his style of songwriting/music. Dan arndt (talk) 05:28, 10 September 2008 (UTC)

PK Members

Have been giving some thought as to how we could put together an article - thought you might want to look at List of Bryan Adams backing band members, which is a formally good format. Dan arndt (talk) 01:04, 17 September 2008 (UTC)

Do you want to send to me the list that you've got and I'll start work on knocking something up - was thinking that once the discography is done we put the awards up for an FLC - or am I a glutton for punishment? Dan arndt (talk) 03:51, 17 September 2008 (UTC)
Have started work on draft article so feel free to add in any details as you work through the various PK articles - saw the work on Talk nice edits to bring it up to 'C' class. Dan arndt (talk) 01:18, 18 September 2008 (UTC)
Haven't given any thought as to whether chronological or alphabetical - probably chrono is the way to go - will take your advice on Martin Armiger - was only look at short bios (ie relationship to PK, which bands they were from & which bands they went to). Dan arndt (talk) 04:13, 18 September 2008 (UTC)

Have had a go at 'fleshing out' the article on Post want to have a look and see if you can find some way of adding to it? Dan arndt (talk) 07:08, 19 September 2008 (UTC)

Sent you a response. Dan arndt (talk) 08:35, 19 September 2008 (UTC)
Will leave it alone for you to edit. Dan arndt (talk) 08:53, 19 September 2008 (UTC)
Whatever - have just finsihed off a bottle of red & don't care anymore. Dan arndt (talk) 09:49, 19 September 2008 (UTC)
Next time I'm in Melbourne - the first round of drinks is on me. Dan arndt (talk) 10:00, 19 September 2008 (UTC)

No rest for the wicked - have nominated the PK awrds for FLC as well - hopefully should be relatively painless. Dan arndt (talk) 01:11, 22 September 2008 (UTC)

Was looking up something completely different and found PK also won and was nominated for the FCCA (Film Critics Circle of Australia) Awards (2002 - Lantana (nominated) & One Night the Moon (won); 2004 - Tom White (nominated); 2006 - Jinadabyne(nominated)); was nominated for the 2001 Lexus IF (inside Fim) Awards (Lantana); won the 2002 Screen Music Awards, Australia (One Night the Moon); and won 'Best Music' award at the 2006 Valladoid Internation Film Festival for Jindabyne! Dan arndt (talk) 04:40, 22 September 2008 (UTC)
Have to head off - want to see if you can address the other recommendations - not certain what you mean about nesting. Dan arndt (talk) 10:17, 22 September 2008 (UTC)

I've added some more thoughts. Mrh30 (talk) 11:52, 22 September 2008 (UTC)

Been busy I see - not certain what else needs to be done here... Dan arndt (talk) 02:18, 23 September 2008 (UTC)

I believe you requested notification. I feel I have made the necessary changes. Thankyou very much for your comments you have expanded both the article and my knowledge. Hpfan9374 (talk) 01:23, 25 September 2008 (UTC)

I believe you requested notification. I have made further changes from your additional comments. I feel I have made the necessary changes. Hpfan9374 (talk) 07:02, 25 September 2008 (UTC)

Paul Kelly

Have added some details about The Rock Party - will look at adding some details about Singers for the Red, Black and Gold shortly - following which I see about getting a Peer review undertaken and then we should consider lodging our first 'FAC' - what do you think?

Will look at tidying up the draft article on members (keep getting sidetracked). Dan arndt (talk) 02:43, 25 September 2008 (UTC)
Semantics - you know what I mean... I'd love to have a 'FA' under our belt - still a bit frustrated about the FLC on the awards but am confident it should come through... Need to work out some points for 'musical style' to get included. Maybe add something about PK adding his entire back collection for downlaod on his MySpace site - remember some newspaper article about it when I was searching something else. Dan arndt (talk) 04:23, 25 September 2008 (UTC)

Hey, you assessed the above article a couple of days ago, and left a few comments about how to get it up to C-class. I have made the suggested changes to the article and was wondering if you wouldn't mind looking at the article again to see if it warrants promotion yet. Your suggestion to use APRA was particularly helpful (sadly the site is down at the moment, but not before I verified the songs in the article), do you know of any similar sites that would help with personnel lists? Currently the personnel list is sourced to the vinyl sleeve which is not ideal for other editors to verify (although valid in this instance). The only sites with entries I've found are MusicBrainz, SoundUnwound (both unreliable for the same reasons as Discogs) and this page which looks reliable but is definitely inaccurate. Thanks – Ikara talk → 00:33, 29 September 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the quick reply. I have looked through most of the relevant Allmusic pages on Pendulum, and the story is more or less always the same. The page you give is a perfect example of this, it contains accurate and reliable information, but is far from complete, as can be seen by comparing Allmusic entry with the equivalent on Discogs, which is not reliable but in this case is accurate and thorough. At best I can use it as a supplementary reference, and even then only on the article about the album itself (the personnel on the singles was different for mastering and mixing). At the moment though I am working through all the single articles, so that will have to wait. Thanks again, and if you get a chance to reassess the article I'd really appreciate it – Ikara talk → 16:26, 29 September 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for the reassess, I'll stop pestering you now. I tend not to assess my own articles as I am naturally biased, but your grid should help me there. If you would like me to return the favour at some point, I'd be happy to oblige. All the best – Ikara talk → 21:29, 29 September 2008 (UTC)

I was about to start work on editing the discography page to reflect the new releases (Songs form the South - Volume 2 and Paul Kelly - The Video Collection 1985 - 2008) but was totally flumoxed by the table - you might want to do that 'cause I know I'll just end up stuffing the tables up. Dan arndt (talk) 03:00, 1 October 2008 (UTC)
