Welcome!

Hello, ShuttheHeckUp, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on discussion pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{helpme}} before the question. Again, welcome!

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, we would like to remind you not to attack other editors, as you did on Talk:Crucifixion. Please comment on the contributions and not the contributors. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Your recent edits[edit]

Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 00:46, 28 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

November 2009[edit]

Please do not attack other editors, as you did at Talk:Crucifixion. Comment on content, not on contributors. Personal attacks damage the community and deter users. Please stay cool and keep this in mind while editing. Thank you. Fences&Windows 01:25, 28 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please. Dude is acting like a jerk, people are going to call him one.

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username, ShuttheHeckUp, may not meet Wikipedia's username policy because the name can easily be taken as a disparagement of others, possibly deliberately so. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. As an alternative, you may file for a change of username, or you may simply create a new account and use that for editing. Thank you. John Carter (talk) 16:45, 28 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

"Please. Dude is acting like a jerk, people are going to call him one." On Wikipedia we aim to treat each other with respect; we explain why we disagree with other editors without insulting them. Editors who persist in insulting, harassing or attacking other editors get blocked. Please read the civility policy. Fences&Windows 18:20, 28 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Ahaha. This is pretty much exactly what I predicted would happen when I commented on the page. Instead of people commenting on the specific complaints I have made (tryptofish is using his authority as an editor to prevent change, anime doesn't belong in an article on crucifixion), I get told off by people using a bunch of meaningless acronyms, and told to change my user name for no real reason. Your behavior is as predictable as predictable gets. Your definition of "civil" needs some work.

This account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia because your username, ShuttheHeckUp, does not meet our username policy.

Your username is the only reason for this block. You are welcome to choose a new username (see below).

A username should not be promotional, related to a "real-world" group or organization, misleading, offensive, or disruptive. Also, usernames may not end in the word "bot" unless the account is an approved bot account.

You are encouraged to choose a new account name that meets our policy guidelines. Alternatively, if you have already made edits and you wish to keep your existing contributions under a new name, then you may request a change in username by:

  1. Adding {{unblock-un|your new username here}} on your user talk page. You should be able to do this even though you are blocked, as you can usually still edit your own talk page. If not, you may wish to contact the blocking administrator by clicking on "E-mail this user" on their talk page.
  2. At an administrator's discretion, you may be unblocked for 24 hours to file a request.
  3. Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use, so please check here for a listing of already taken names. The account is created upon acceptance, thus do not try to create the new account before making the request for a name change. For more information, please see Wikipedia:Changing username.
If you feel that you were blocked in error, you may appeal this block by adding below this notice the text {{unblock|Your reason here}}, but you should read our guide to appealing blocks first. -- Cirt (talk) 16:54, 5 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
