WikiProject Newsletter n°2

It's been one high aiming month! The French WikiProject and related pages have been aiming high for Christmas - and have received an equal number of presents in return!

Well, that's this issue. Au revoir et à bientôt till the next time, ChrisDHDR (18:54, 9 December 2007 (UTC)).

Hey there, I noticed you posted that you'd like to see the Louvre article improved...well...me too... So, I've been slowly hacking into it, basically starting at the top and adding additional prose/cites/etc as I can find them...but I was wondering if you were interested in joining in? Lazulilasher (talk) 03:10, 1 February 2008 (UTC)

I have been busy lately with real life stress, will be happy to be of any help. STTW (talk) 10:29, 1 February 2008 (UTC)

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:KRCD Logo.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:KRCD Logo.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 23:23, 13 February 2008 (UTC)

AWB

Hi, You might not be aware of my plugin that ships with AWB and which is designed for robust WikiProject tagging, including adding parameters to existing templates and writing into banner shells. See User:Kingbotk/Plugin. No reply needed. Thanks. --kingboyk (talk) 18:30, 6 March 2008 (UTC) (AWB dev)

Thanks for the info. --STTW (talk) 21:49, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

INRConvert

Thanks for the note...sure, I'll try and work on that over the weekend. Thanks AreJay (talk) 16:30, 12 March 2008 (UTC)

SMS

Regarding the SMS article, that reference is to livejournal tools help files, not somebodies blog. Theirs is a fairly updated list with that information, and that info could even possibly qualify for it's own article. 209.152.84.17 (talk) 16:42, 15 March 2008 (UTC)

Wikipedia is not some kind of directory, and the list which you started apart from advertisement for the companies offering this service is not really helpful for the article. --STTW (talk) 16:46, 15 March 2008 (UTC)

Thanks You!

Thanks for the welcome! I don't have any questions as of yet, but Sudhirkbhargava wants to know the procedure for uploading photos and I can't help him because I don't know how to upload them either. Again, thanks! Dragonsscout (talk) 20:50, 15 March 2008 (UTC)

Care needs to be taken while uploading photos, especially about the copyrights. You should read Wikipedia:Upload before, where there is a step by step help to uploading images. --STTW (talk) 11:24, 16 March 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the welcome

Just to let you know that it is a cat and mouse game between Brahmos and BrahMos. Will be more subtle next time. Ronosen (talk) 07:14, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

Sometimes before making changes to an article it is helpful to discuss on its talk page! --STTW (talk) 14:20, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the welcome

Thanks for the welcome... I am Greek and I am just trying through my self-library to add some information for English readers so that nothing seems Greek to them! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.49.90.156 (talk) 13:56, 21 March 2008 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of Alexander Neumeister

A tag has been placed on Alexander Neumeister requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. George D. AfD nomination of Mathilde DeCagny

An editor has nominated Mathilde DeCagny, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Mathilde DeCagny and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 17:59, 24 March 2008 (UTC)

A7

You have a misunderstanding about non-notable speedy deletions. The article does not have to be shown to be notable to pass speedy. It just has to make some sort of an assertion of importance. See WP:CSD. (with respect to George Addes--secretary-treasurer of the UAW is such an assertion.) DGG (talk) 18:23, 27 March 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the info, see my comment on the articles talk page. --STTW (talk) 19:37, 27 March 2008 (UTC)

Martin Ludwig Bormann

Hi there. His full birth name was Martin Ludwig Bormann... For example The Bormann letters (see: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Bormann-letters-private-correspondence-between/dp/B00073D200/ref=sr_1_9/026-5926581-1122833?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1218559530&sr=1-9), were published under his full name... Hope this helps!! Maria —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mariaflores1955 (talkcontribs) 16:57, 12 August 2008 (UTC)

Thanks, could you add the references to the article. My only concern was that his full name was not mentioned on any other sister wiki sites! --STTW (talk) 21:13, 13 August 2008 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on Nalanda International University, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising that only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the general criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 11, as well as the guidelines on spam.

If you can indicate why the subject of this article is not blatant advertising, you may contest the tagging. To do this, please add {{hangon}} on the top of Nalanda International University and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would help make it encyclopedic, as well as adding any citations from independent reliable sources to ensure that the article will be verifiable. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Tohd8BohaithuGh1 (talk) 22:45, 13 August 2008 (UTC)

Article is a stub, needs more info. Definitely not a spam. --STTW (talk) 18:26, 18 August 2008 (UTC)

Hi CultureDrone! Ascom is listed at the Swiss Exchange, I think it is notable enough. Try the 'not fool proof' but some what useful, google check, as a first step before placing speedy delete tags. --STTW (talk) 16:52, 3 September 2008 (UTC)

Image copyright problem with Image:Eicher logo.gif

Thanks for uploading Image:Eicher logo.gif. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.
