Welcome!

Hello, Trurl66, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on discussion pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{helpme}} before the question. Again, welcome!

P.S. Thank you for your additions to the Chinchilla article. I just want to give you a quick reminder that Wikipedia is not a information resource for pet owners, and that all contributions must have encyclopedic merit and be verified by reliable published sources (websites for/by pet owners would not be considered as such; a better example would be published books and peer-reviewed scientific journals). A good example of an article about a small mammal kept as a pet would be the one for Guinea pigs, which is a Featured Article. Thanks again, and Welcome! VanTucky 21:46, 18 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Duplicate images uploaded[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:View of Mount Diablo and CA highway 24 from Lafayette Hights.jpg. A machine-controlled robot account noticed that you also uploaded the same image under the name Image:MtDiablo.jpg. The copy called Image:MtDiablo.jpg has been marked for speedy deletion since it is redundant. If this sounds okay to you, there is no need for you to take any action.

This is an automated message- you have not upset or annoyed anyone, and you do not need to respond. In the future, you may save yourself some confusion if you supply a meaningful file name and refer to 'my contributions' to remind yourself exactly which name you chose (file names are case sensitive, including the extension) so that you won't lose track of your uploads. For tips on good file naming, see Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions about this notice, or feel that the deletion is inappropriate, please contact User:Staecker, who operates the robot account. Staeckerbot 22:31, 19 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Public domain images[edit]

Hi, I noticed that you uploaded an image under a public domain license. Did you know that if you upload the image to the Wikimedia Commons then the image can be used in all the various language Wikipedia projects and not just English? Dismas|(talk) 02:47, 22 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Commercial use of Image:LanigeraAreal.jpg[edit]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Image:LanigeraAreal.jpg, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Image:LanigeraAreal.jpg is an image licensed as "for non-commercial use only" or "used with permission for use on Wikipedia only" which was either uploaded on or after 2005-05-19 or is not used in any articles (CSD I3).

If you created this media file and want to use it on Wikipedia, you may re-upload it (or amend the image description if it has not yet been deleted) and use the license {{GFDL-self}} to license it under the GFDL, or {{cc-by-sa-2.5}} to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, or use {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain.

If you did not create this media file but want to use it on Wikipedia, there are two ways to proceed. First, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list if you believe one of those fair use rationales applies to this file. Second, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.

If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. This bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion, it did not nominate Image:LanigeraAreal.jpg itself. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot. If you have any questions about what to do next or why your image was nominated for speedy deletion please ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thanks. --Android Mouse Bot 2 18:38, 23 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Since I'll assume you are not watching my talk page, I will also leave this message here:

There is a vast difference between them. Please, at the very least, Google them before making such false claims. The wild Chinchilla lanigera species is much smaller than it's domesticated counterpart and it's form has quite a bit of variation. In fact, the wild version looks more like a mouse or a chipmunk than it does a domestic chinchilla. The article that is specifically about the wild Chinchilla lanigera should strictly contain pictures of the wild Chinchilla lanigera. I don't think there would be a problem with a section within the article that talks about the domesticated version a bit and has a picture of a domesticated chinchilla there, but the pictures should predominately be composed of wild chinchillas only and, if they aren't, they should be labeled as such. Otherwise, you're giving people the false impression that the few that are romping around in the wild look just like the fuzzballs in their living room, which they don't. --74.137.227.117 18:25, 28 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Photo usage[edit]

Hi, I've been working on a small game built around animal quizzes and I wanted to let you know I've used one of your pictures.

I found your picture here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Chinchilla_lanigera1.jpg

And I attributed the picture like this: Trurl66 with this link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/en:User:Trurl66 and also added a link to the license: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/en:public_domain

I hope you're happy with it, please let me know if this is not the case. You can find the game here: http://apps.facebook.com/animalalbum Or through here: http://www.facebook.com/pages/AnimalAlbum/156339584490672

P.S. Thanks for taking the picture and making it available.

The file File:BasketChin.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

orphaned file, no foreseeable use

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
