Veltoor, often spelled as Velatoor, Velatur, Veltur etc., is a village and gram panchayat in Uppununthala Mandal of Mahbubnagar district of Andhra Pradesh state in India. It is located just next to Dindi Dam, a tributary of Krishna River. It is exactly in between Hyderabad and Srisailam on the highway. The Nallamalla forests and famous Umamaheswaram Temple are about 10 km and can be seen from the village and the nearest big town is Achampet.

Major attractions

The population of Veltoor is close to five thousand, representing different social classes. It has an electrical substation and a rice mill on the outskirts. The main source of income is agriculture. The main crops include rice, peanuts, castor, cotton and other fruits and vegetables. The government high school in this village is very famous and has produced many engineers, officers, teachers, etc. so far. Major source of irrigation is from groundwater. Village has a medium sized irrigation tank but rarely fed in the events of good rain fall. Village economy has boosted from the advent and proliferation of borewells. Fare at the time of Ratha Saptami is famous festive event in the area.
