"When He's Gone" is the second single released by the Bee Gees off the album High Civilization. It was the only single from the album that was released in the United States but the song was not charted. It was credited to Barry, Robin & Maurice Gibb.

Background

In the song, the singer lets her know that he will be waiting for when her boyfriend leaves. The song ends ends with a long instrumental of Alan Kendall's guitar and someone's synthesizer horns.[1]

Two different B-sides were issued. In the United States, the song "True Confessions" was used, which was a song that was not included on the cassette versions of High Civilization. The B-side in the UK was live performance of "Massachusetts" done in Melbourne, Australia from their 1989 One For All Tour. A music video was made for the song features the Bee Gees and the backing band.

The song was later performed in The Arsenio Hall Show and Into the Night with Rick Dees.
