computer brands in TV show[edit]

When I watch NCIS, I noticed familiar items. The computer equipment used is from Dell and Cisco Systems. Did those two companies allow the show to used those types of computer equipment?24.90.204.234 (talk) 07:40, 6 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Rather than just allow, they probably paid the show to do it. It's called product placement. HiLo48 (talk) 08:16, 6 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I wonder why they wouldn't allow it? Unless the show implies the product is bad, there is no reason for them to cause a fuss. - Mgm|(talk) 11:38, 7 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
No idea, but what I wondered more happened in the case of Code Geass. From our product placement page, it says "The Japanese animated series Code Geass is sponsored by the Japanese branch of Pizza Hut. Despite the fact that the series is set in an alternate reality, at least one main character is depicted ordering and receiving a Pizza Hut pizza on several occasions. The company's logo also appears throughout the series." When it was brought to American shores, references to Pizza Hut was edited out (mentioned in our Pizza Hut page, "Pizza Hut is also advertised in anime such as Code Geass, Maria-sama ga Miteru, Darker Than Black and Toaru Kagaku no Railgun, though in the translated versions of Code Geass the logo was removed, leaving only the red roof logo."). --Wirbelwindヴィルヴェルヴィント (talk) 16:14, 8 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Buffy and Charmed comic[edit]

How many more years will they keep printing the Charmed_(comic_book)? Neptunekh2 (talk) 13:20, 6 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Presumably as long as it makes money; we don't have a crystal ball. Most comic adaptations don't last for very long, but some go on for several years (as with Marvel's Conan and ROM adaptations). Matt Deres (talk) 15:09, 6 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Where can I read Buffy the vampire slayer season 8 or season 9 or the Charmed comic online for free? Neptunekh2 (talk) 13:24, 6 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

We're not going to help you get access to pirate versions (which certainly exist). Matt Deres (talk) 15:09, 6 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Runner wins race after going back to check on fellow runner[edit]

Hi I'm trying to find information on an event that happened more than 10 years ago. A runner (male or female I can't remember) was involved in a track race (more than 100mts less than 5000mts) when they caused a fellow runner to fall. The runner in question then turned back and stopped to make sure the faller was uninjured. After a brief check the runner then continued with the race passing some or all of the remaining runners to finnish the race. I think the runners were Brittish and running in the olipyics and i'm pretty sure all this happened on the last turn before the final straight. thanks for your help 213.122.112.251 (talk) 17:05, 6 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Don't include spaces for new paragraphs as it breaks formatting and makes a very long line. Anyway are you thinking of John Landy#Athletics (who I roughly recalled but couldn't remember the name of so found with a simple search for 'race check on another runner fall')? Nil Einne (talk) 17:09, 6 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
It was a lot more than 10 years ago. From John Landy:
  • In Australia, Landy is perhaps most famously remembered for his performance in the 1500 metres final at the 1956 Australian National Championships prior to the Melbourne 1956 Olympic Games. In the race, Landy stopped and doubled backed to check on fellow runner Ron Clarke after another runner clipped Clarke's heel, causing him to fall early in the third lap of the race. Clarke, the then-junior 1500 metre world champion, who had been leading the race, got back to his feet and started running again; Landy followed. Incredibly, in the final two laps Landy made up a large deficit to win the race, something considered one of the greatest moments in Australian sporting history. Said the National Centre for History and Education in Australia, "It was a spontaneous gesture of sportsmanship and it has never been forgotten."[3] A bronze sculpture of the moment when Landy helps Clarke to his feet is situated on the lawns adjacent to Olympic Park on Olympic Boulevard, Melbourne. -- Jack of Oz [your turn] 20:30, 6 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • An amazing, inspiring story. I have to ask, though... Did Landy literally help Clarke to his feet or did he merely encourage him? That is, if he touched him, might that disqualify Clarke? ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 21:23, 6 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
There's no mention of any physical contact. -- Jack of Oz [your turn] 21:59, 6 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Here's a bit of newsreel footage.[1] Not the greatest quality, but it's adequate. If Landy touched Clarke it was only fleeting and it was after Clarke had already gotten up. The amazing part is that not only did Landy come back to win, but he blew away the field. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 22:04, 6 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Can't figure out through lyrics which song is here (Bodyrockers are indicated as performer), does anyone recognize it? Thanks.--89.76.224.253 (talk) 20:06, 6 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
