Yazid ibn Abu Sufyan (Arabic: يزيد بن أبي سفيان) was one of the companions of Muhammad.

Yazid ibn Abu Sufyan was the son of Abu Sufyan ibn Harb, he was the brother of Muawiya I.
Yazid was one of those four Muslim generals who were sent by Caliph Abu Bakr to invade Roman Syria in 634 A.D. He was made governor of Damascus after the Conquest of Damascus in 634 A.D. He commanded Muslim army's left wing at the Battle of Yarmouk. After the death of Abu Ubaidah ibn al-Jarrah in 639 A.D from plague, Mu'adh ibn Jabal was made governor of Syria and after his death from the plague Yazid was made governor by Caliph Umar, but he too died in a plague in 640 A.D. He appointed his brother as governor on his deathbed, later confirmed by Umar.
