It was his son, Thomas Gawthorpe Smithson, who married Maria, daughter of Evan Evans. James Edward Smithson produced and sold wine on the site of today’s Bexley Golf Course. Whether or not James had established a vineyard, or one extensive enough to support his wine-making, is contentious. undo Tag: Visual edit
