Leo Garcia is a playwright, producer, filmmaker, actor, and visual artist. Garcia was one of the original writers in Maria Irene Fornes' playwright residency at the INTAR Theatre in New York City; Fornes became a long-time mentor to Garcia. In his contribution to a biographical piece on Fornes, Garcia wrote:
:I acted in her adaptation of Virgilio Piñera's Cold Air at INTAR Hispanic American Arts Center, was directed by her in her play Terra Incognita at the Dionysia World Festival in Siena, Italy, and again at the Padua Playwrights Festival in Los Angeles, and have had the disctinct honor of having my play, Dogs directed by her at the West Coast Ensemble Theater in Los Angeles. Beyond our work together, I've come to respect and love my friend Irene.
