Final Fantasy VI Original Sound Version is a soundtrackalbum of video game music from the console role-playing gameFinal Fantasy VI, developed and produced by Square Co. for the Super Famicom (known internationally as the Super Nintendo Entertainment System). The album contains the musical tracks from the game, composed, arranged and produced by Nobuo Uematsu. The original release bears the catalog number PSCN-5001, Final Fantasy VI Stars*Vol.1 bears the catalog number N09D-023, Final Fantasy VI Stars*Vol.2 bears the catalog number NO9D-024, Kefka's Domain bears the catalog number SQ108, and the re-release bears the catalog number NTCP-5001.
Kefka's Domain is North America's own release of the Final Fantasy VI Original Sound Version album. This release is now very rare and it is recommended to buy the import if you want this soundtrack. This is the same release as Final Fantasy VI: Original Sound Version except that song titles were in English, taken from the translations used in the Original Sound Version Piano Sheet Music book and based on the English release of Final Fantasy VI under the name Final Fantasy III, explaining the name Final Fantasy III on the cover. Here are the differences between Squaresoft's translation of Final Fantasy VI: Original Sound Version and the track names used in this release:
Final Fantasy VI: Stars*Vol.1 and Final Fantasy VI: Stars*Vol.2 were singles released for Final Fantasy VI. They were both released in 1994 and contained tracks taken directly from the OSV. Each contained five tracks and together, they contain the characters' themes for characters which are obtained no matter what is done in the game (not the secret characters' themes). The themes on the first volume are those of Terra, Edgar & Sabin, Strago, Gau and Cyan. The themes on the second volume are those of Locke, Celes, Shadow, Relm and Setzer.
