Kanju is a beautiful village situated on the bank of River Swat in the North-West Frontier Province, Pakistan.It is three kilometeres from Mingora, the main city of District Swat and about four kilometeres from Saidu Sharif, the District Headquarter. The people belong to the the Yousafzai cast of Pukhtoons. It has a population of some 15000 people. The major source of earning is agriculture and fruit farming. A considerable number of people own small and large businesses in various places of the N-W.F Province. It has some tourist attractions. The view of River Swat from Ayub Bridge in Kanju is magnificent. Saidu Sharif Airport is just a mile away from Kanju. Its a small airport mainly used for domestic flights. Though Kanju is expanding rapidly but still it has a touch of country life.Kanju is known best by following personalities

Kanju Township is a residencial scheme undertaken by the SDDA. It one of the beautiful residential schemes of the country primarly because of its location with scenic locals around it.

Kanju has been home to many prominent personalities and professional in various fields. They include three consecutive education directors of the NWFP; Mr. Abdur Rashid, Mr. Muhammad Khan and Mr. Shahi Room Khan; District Health Officer Dr. Mehmood Khan. Other well known educationist includes Professor Javed Iqbal, Professor Abdul Wadood, Professor Mian Noor Nawab, Principal Muhammad Khan, Principal Khurshid Anwar, Education Officer Fazal Rahman. Mr. Hussain Ahmad Kanju, provincial minister for IT also belongs to Kanju. There is a government High School for boys, a middle school for girls and several primary school both for boys and girls. There are a number of private schools and colleges, prominent among them are Al-Razi Public School and College,Hira School and College, Iqra School and College, Shah Public School and College etc.
