Maxie Jones (born Maria Maximiliana Jones) is a fictional character on the popular ABC soap opera, General Hospital. She is the oldest daughter of supercouple Frisco and Felicia Jones. The characater was originated by Robyn Richards in 1993, who played the character until 2005. Since 2005, the character has been portrayed by actress Kirsten Storms. Maxie will also be one of the characters in the summer 2007 run of General Hospital: Night Shift, which premieres on July 12.
Fictional character history
Childhood
Maxie was born on Halloween night and was given the first name Maria in honor of Felicia's grandmother, who was Texas-based Mexican royalty with both Anglo and Aztec connections. The show has used the upper-class English pronunciation of Mariah's name: ma-RYE-uh, with a long "i," like singer Mariah Carey, but the name is spelled Maria. Maxie's middle name, Maximiliana, was given in honor of Felicia's relative Maximilian. Felicia and Frisco initially called their daughter "Max," but "Maxie" was the nickname that stuck.
Maxie's biggest story came in 1994 when she developed Kawasaki disease and required a heart transplant. Her cousin Barbara Jean "BJ" Jones was killed when her school van was hit by a drunk driver. BJ was declared brain dead, devastating her family and friends. Her heart was transplanted into Maxie. One of the most heartbreaking scenes on General Hospital showed BJ's father, Dr. Tony Jones, laying his head on Maxie's chest and listening to his daughter's heart beat within his niece (a similar emotional scene occurred in the hospital series "St. Elsewhere", when one episode ended with a doctor listening to the heartbeat of his now dead wife, as the heart beat inside a stranger patient). It was a storyline that won much critical acclaim and several awards.
Maxie and her sister Georgie have been raised by Felicia and their stepfather Mac Scorpio. Their father Frisco has had little involvement with them. Although Mac Scorpio never legally adopted the girls, both Maxie and Georgie think of him as their father.

Lucky Spencer
Supplying her longtime crush Lucky Spencer with pills during the span of his addiction, the two of them ended up sleeping together. Lucky promised Maxie love and respect, he even promised to leave his wife, Elizabeth Webber. Since then, Maxie has been very sneaky in trying to get Lucky to love her including claiming to be pregnant by Lucky after using a faulty Enduro condom manufactured by ELQ, the Quartermaine family company and a suicide attempt when Lucky finally told her he'd lied and used her. Her heavy drinking and attempt to sleep with Diego Alcazar at a Halloween 2006 party left her pregnancy in doubt, however, as Diego surmised that she wasn't really pregnant, but that she simply needed to -be- pregnant.
Maxie told Lucky that she was pregnant with his child. She had a miscarriage after a fall down the stairs but it was later revealed there was no miscarriage . Elizabeth, Lucky's wife, did some snooping into hospital records and found that Maxie had faked her miscarriage. In fact, Maxie had faked the entire pregnancy test by switching her blood sample with a sample of a pregnant woman.
In the weeks that followed Maxie decided to put her life together. Maxie started to flirt with other guys, explaining to Lucky how she'd tried to get him to love her but that he wouldn't. She told him she'd moved on. She befriended Sam McCall and got a job in the Metro Court Fashion Store. She was only a month into the job when The hostage crisis happened.
Hostage Crisis - enter "Three"
Armed gunmen barreled thru the hotel lobby demanding money and jewels. Maxie, being her usual smart-alec self got used as a human shield when Mr. Craig, the head Robber, sent her and two of his goons to the Metro Court vault. Then, by some twist of fate, Maxie ended up trapped in a vault at Metro Court with a suitcase containing a bomb, and a man wearing a ski mask, who identified himself as Three. He was recruited by James Craig, who had relations with Lorenzo Alcazar, to hold hostage anyone who was there at the time, more or less working as a mercenary. It was there that Maxie told "Three" about all the crimes she had committed, Zander and his death, and the whole Lucky fiasco.
She did this to distract herself from the fact that the suitcase that was in the vault could explode any minute, and Three sympathized with her, saying that they do that in the military to keep the tension low. Maxie awkwardly replied, "Okay, this is the part where I don't ask if you were in the military". This banter went on for hours. Maxie even removed Three's mask and the two of them started discussing how she'd get him out of the mess he'd put himself in IF he didn't hurt anyone.
Meanwhile, a rescue attempt, manned by Jason Morgan and Damian Spinelli was taking place. Jason, disguised as one of Craig's mercenaries, became "Five" another gunmen. While Spinelli was captured and forced to open the vault early, so the police wouldn't know. Spinelli opened the vault and a mask donning "Three" gave Craig the breifcase.
When Sam escaped the lobby Mr. Craig told "Three", who was holding the detonator to the bomb to blow the lobby, he ("Three") hesitated because of what Maxie'd said. Craig did blow the lobby, but it was because of Three and Maxie that so many got further away from the explosives. Maxie later helped him escape the rubble and the cops by getting his Gunmen clothes off and explaining to her father(the police commissioner)'s guys that both of them were hostages.
Cooper Barrett, after the hostage crisis
Three, who informed Maxie real name is Cooper Barrett, then showed up at Maxie's bed room window (or more specifically, hid in her closet while she was out, and then made his presence known), and said he had nowhere to go, and Maxie has agreed to shelter him until they can work things out. Jasper Jacks, or "Jax", has hired Cooper to work as a security guard. Head of security, Max Giambetti, played by (Derk Cheetwood) explains to Jax that he (Cooper) looks familiar, but he can't place him (he was on Mr. Craig's team in the crisis).
Cooper and Maxie's relationship has continued to grow more and more. After they slept together, her sister Georgie started to bag on her about hiding the relationship from Mac. Maxie's feelings for Cooper have grown strong, and it might be love. But her hatred towards Lulu Spencer could majorly effect her relationship with Cooper. Seeing a threat in Coop and Lulu's friendly conversation triggered an intense jealously and insecurity. As a result, she tried to "encourage" Logan Hayes's relationship with Lulu. However, Logan saw through Maxie's plan, and wanted something in return. Sex with Maxie. Maxie reluctantly agreed to sleep with Logan the day after he bedded Lulu. Maxie also made him promise never to tell Coop about their deal.
