Fictional character biography

James Lucas Scott is the son of Nathan Scott (James Lafferty) and Haley James Scott (Bethany Joy Galeotti), and the nephew of Lucas Scott (Chad Michael Murray). He is being raised by his mother and father in a small North Carolina town.

Season 4

At the end of season three, it is revealed that a baby is on the way, though who the mother is isn't exactly clear. During the premiere of season four, it seems as though Brooke is the one who is pregnant, but after a few episodes, it is shown that Brooke is covering for Haley's pregnancy. Haley is scared to tell Nathan that she is in fact the one who is pregnant, but is forced to confess to Nathan when Brooke tells her she cannot cover for her anymore.

Once Nathan finds out about the pregnancy, he becomes angry at Haley for keeping this from him for so long. He is offered a scholarship to Duke University and at a press conference states, "Today I learned that my wife Haley, is pregnant. And while it's an absolute honor to be recruited by Duke University, I guess what I have to say to you today is this: Where I play basketball, if I play basketball, is no longer a decision for me to make alone. It's a decision that I'll make with my wife, and my family’s best interest at heart."

Later, on after having money trouble, Nathan borrows money from a man named Daunte. They make an agreement that Daunte will give Nathan money if Nathan shaves points off at the Playoffs. Later this night, Haley tells Nathan that they are having a boy. Nathan is thrilled, and he decides that shaving points is not worth it. By winning the game, Nathan breaks his and Daunte's agreement, and Daunte runs Haley over with his car.

In the hospital, and after surgery, the doctors declare Haley and the baby in good health. Haley later makes a full recovery. During graduation, Haley goes into labor in the middle of her valedictorian speech. Nathan stands up in happiness. At the hospital they welcome James Lucas Scott, named after Haley's maiden and Lucas' middle name. Nathan and Haley ask Lucas and Brooke to be James' godparents, which they happily accept.

Season 5

In season five, James is four/five years old living with his mom and dad and is looked after by his nany played by Torrey DeVitto.
