Sportcity Manchester is a sports district in eastern Manchester, that rose to fame as host of the 2002 Commonwealth Games.[1] It hosts the regional base for the English Institute of Sport and so therefore benefits from: Athletics tracks, The National Squash Centre, The Regional Tennis Centre and the City of Manchester Stadium.[2] It was also the proposed location for the "SuperCasino"[3] which was hoped would spur re-generation in the area, but the plan was rejected by the House of Lords.[4]
