"Up" is the second single by British female five-piece The Saturdays. It followed their debut single, If This Is Love and was released on the 13 October 2008.[1]

The single received its first radio airplay on Radio 1's program 'Switch' (with Nick Grimshaw) on the 31 August 2008 at 8.40pm.[2]

The song is currently A-Listed on Radio 1's Playlist, meaning that "Up" is already more successful than the debut "If This Is Love".

The song was also used in the American promos for Ugly Betty's third season.

The song was used on Britannia High's second episode of season 1 - opening dance sequence for Mitch Hewer's character.

The video for the single was shot on July 30, 2008.[3] The finished product was initially meant to premiere on Yahoo.com on the 1st September 2008, but due to a technical fault, premiered on the September 2, 2008.[4]

The video involves the girls being in front of colourful backgrounds, jumping to and from pillars and doing various dance moves.[4]

The music video on the Polydor account on YouTube has been viewed over 500,000 times and when paired with an unofficial uploaded version has collectively on YouTube had over 1,500,000 views.[5]

Release

The single was released digitally on 12 October 2008 and physically on 13 October 2008. Their debut album follows shortly after, being released on the October 24 in the Republic of Ireland and on the October 27 in the UK.

On the October 18, 2008, the single debuted at #5 on the UK Singles Chart on its first week of release. The single peaked at #2 on the iTunes singles chart. Up has sold well over 60,000 copies in the UK alone.
