Maximilian von Herff (April 17, 1893September 6, 1945) was a German Schutzstaffel general from Hanover.

Herff served as an officer of the Reichswehr in the First World War, attaining the rank of colonel and winning the Iron Cross First and Second Class. During the Second World War, Herff served in North Africa as commander of the Kampfgruppe "von Herff". For his service in Africa he was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross in June 1941.

On April 1, 1942, Herff joined the NSDAP (member no. 8 858 661) and the SS (member no. 405 894). On April 20, 1944, Herff was promoted to SS-Obergruppenführer and General of Waffen-SS. From October 1, 1942 to May 8, 1945, he was in charge of the SS-Personalhauptamt.

A Prisoner of War at Grizedale Prisoner of War camp, he died at nearby Conishead Priory Military Hospital. He was reburied at Cannock Chase German war cemetery, Staffordshire.
