Khurai is a city and a municipality in Sagar district in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh.

Geography

Khurai is located at 24°03′N 78°19′E / 24.05°N 78.32°E / 24.05; 78.32[1]. It has an average elevation of 436 metres (1430 feet).

Demographics

As of 2008 India census[2], Khurai had a population of 48,887. Males constitute 57% of the population and females 43%. Khurai has an average literacy rate of 77%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 83%, and female literacy is 73%. In Khurai, 21% of the population is under 6 years of age.

Education

Four popular schools are 'Pt.K.C.Sharma HS Ex. School ,Gurukul School and G.S.M.V.M KhuraiHoly Family Convent School. The town has a Polytechnic College and a Science & Arts College. Khurai also has a Jawahar Navodaya Vidhyalya and there is famous Jain temple popularly known as Lal Mandir.
