Conference History (1970-2007)
*The Bay Conference was established in 1970 by charter members: Ashwaubenon, Bay Port, Clintonville, De Pere, Marinette, Oconto, Oconto Falls, Pulaski, Seymour, and West De Pere.
*1979 brought the addition of former East Central Conference member New London in exchange for departing Oconto Falls.
*1980 brought the addition of former Wisconsin Valley Conference member Shawano.
*In 1999, Clintonville left the Bay to join the newly formed Valley 8 Conference.

Of the ten original members, only Marinette, Seymour, and West De Pere have remained in the conference since its inception.

Conference History (2007-Present)
The 2007 WIAA Realignment brought major changes to the Bay Conference. The desire for a top-level, highly competitive Green Bay Metro high school sports conference prompted the transfer of Bay Conference powerhouses Ashwaubenon, Bay Port, De Pere, & Pulaski to the Fox River Classic Conference where they joined the larger Green Bay, Manitowoc, and Sheboygan Area High Schools.

These changes also included the transfer of Hortonville and Oconto Falls from the now defunct Valley 8 Conference as well as the transfer of Denmark & Luxemburg-Casco from the Packerland Conference. Each of these schools have increasing enrollments and had out-grown their previous conferences.

In late 2008, Hortonville High School officially petitioned the WIAA for consideration in moving the growing school into the Fox Valley Association in exchange for Menasha High School whose declining enrollment prompted them to look at other alternatives. Hortonville cited travel times and costs as well as well as the imbalance that currently exists within the Bay Conference as reasons to leave. Hortonville's enrollment is nearly twice as large as the Bay Conference's smallest school and 200 students more than the second largest school. The issue came to a vote at a Menasha School Board meeting, which resulted in Menasha's decision to remain in the FVA.

Sports Offered
Cooperative Teams & Affiliates
In 1982, the WIAA approved cooperative teams, allowing two or more schools to combine to form a team in a sport where neither school has enough athletes to run the sport on its own. Several Bay Conference members have cooperative arrangements, primarily in the sport of Ice Hockey.
*Denmark participates in a combined Boys Ice Hockey team with: Manitowoc Lincoln, Manitowoc Lutheran, Mishicot, Roncalli, Two Rivers & Valders High Schools.
*Hortonville participates in a combined Boys Ice Hockey team with Neenah High School. The team competes in the Badgerland Hockey Conference.
*Shawano fields a Coed Hockey team in conjunction with Bonduel & Clintonville High Schools.
*Seymour & West De Pere participate in a combined Girls Ice Hockey team with: Green Bay East, Green Bay Preble, Green Bay Southwest, Green Bay West, Ashwaubenon, Bayport, De Pere, & Notre Dame High Schools.
*West De Pere participates in a combined Boys Ice Hockey team with De Pere High School. The team competes in the Badgerland Hockey Conference.

Currently, the Clintonville Truckers & Sturgeon Bay Clippers compete in the Bay Conference in Girls Swimming only, as their respective conferences do not carry the sport. Sturgeon Bay fields a girls swimming team in conjunction with Sevastopol High School. The Shawano Girls Swimming team also includes members from neighboring Bonduel High School.

The Bay Conference Was Formed in 1970. The first schools were De Pere, West De Pere, Seymour, Clintonville, Marinette, Oconto, Oconto Falls, Ashwaubenon, Bay Port and Pulaski. In 1979, New London joined the Bay Conference, leaving the East Central Conference. In 1980, Shawano joined the Bay Conference from the Wisconsin Valley Conference. In 1999, Clintonville left the Bay to join the newly formed Valley 8 Conference. In 2007 Ashwaubenon, De Pere, Bay Port and Pulaski left the Bay to join the much bigger FRCC. This was in exchange for Denmark and Luxemburg-Casco from the Packerland, and Oconto Falls and Hortonville from the Valley 8.

!
A rivalry that was just introduced to the Bay Conference in 2008 was Denmark and Luxemburg Casco. Due to their close proximity and previous conference affiliations there is no love lost when these two schools get together.

Conference History (1970-2007)

 • The Bay Conference was established in 1970 by charter members: Ashwaubenon, Bay Port, Clintonville, De Pere, Marinette, Oconto, Oconto Falls, Pulaski, Seymour, and West De Pere.
 • 1979 brought the addition of former East Central Conference member New London in exchange for departing Oconto Falls.
 • 1980 brought the addition of former Wisconsin Valley Conference member Shawano.
 • In 1999, Clintonville left the Bay to join the newly formed Valley 8 Conference.

The issue came to a vote at a Menasha School Board meeting, which resulted in Menasha's decision to remain in the FVA.[3]

Currently, the Clintonville Truckers & Sturgeon Bay Clippers compete in the Bay Conference in Girls Swimming only, as their respective conferences do not carry the sport. Sturgeon Bay fields a girls swimming team in conjunction with Sevastopol High School. The Shawano Girls Swimming team also includes members from neighboring Bonduel High School.[4]
