Marc Levy (born October 16, 1961 in Boulogne-Billancourt, France) is a French novelist. He studied at the prestigious Paris Dauphine University. After six years working at the French Red Cross, while studying, he lived in the United States from 1984 to 1991. There, he co-founded two companies — one based in California and the other one in Colorado — specializing in computer graphics. Back in France in 1991, he co-founded an interior design and construction company, which later became one of the leading architectural firms in France.

Career

Levy wrote his first novel, Et si c'était vrai... (If Only It Were True), in 1998. In 1999, after selling the film rights to Steven Spielberg for Dreamworks, he left his architectural firm to dedicate himself to writing. In 2001, he published his second book, Où es-tu? (Will You Be There ), followed by Sept jours pour une éternité... (Seven Days for an Eternity) in 2003, La prochaine fois (In Another Life) in 2004 and Vous revoir (Finding You) in 2005. The year 2005 also saw the release of Just Like Heaven, the adaptation by Dreamworks of Et si c'était vrai..., starring Reese Witherspoon and Mark Ruffalo. Où es-tu? has been adapted in a mini series for television, and his novel Mes Amis mes Amours(London, Mon Amour) was adapted into a feature film, released in France on July 2nd 2008. (All those things we never said) was published in France on May 15 2008. Marc Levy's books have been translated in 41 countries, and 17 million copies have been sold worldwide. His new novel (Le Premier Jour) has been published in France on June 25 2009.
