Since this is about the same topic, I'm just going to put it in the same section. I noticed in your RfA you mentioned you would work on CSD stuff. You didn't specifically mention file CSDs, but if you do eventually work on them, I suggest you get more experience first. I noticed you don't apparently don't have any edits to the File namespace.--Rockfang (talk) 22:17, 6 August 2009 (UTC)

:In reply to Balloonman: I am in total agreement with you in regard to the most irritating aspects of CSD'ers: Knee-jerk deletion of articles with potential. And I hope I am NEVER guilty of that. I can CSD rather fast, but these will be articles that generally fall into 3 categories 1) "Spam Industries is the Internet's best place to buy flange scrangers" 2) "Tommy is teh gay! he s*&ks c^&*s!!!LOL" 3) "Sarah was born in 1998 and is my best friend in school. Cheers hun! xxx". In other cases, if an article asserts notability but has no references, for example, then my next port of call is google, then google scholar and google news. If I can save the article from incorrect deletion then I am all the happier. In hindsight, I think my answer to question 1 made me look a little too deletionist; I am not. I am quite conservative in my CSD choices, I hope I have never tagged an article that was neither a clear A7 nor within the nebulous A1/A3 category. I did like your oppose vote. I've found myself hard to evaluate, too. :-) Adding references, or copy-editing an article translated from a Slavic Language rarely requires a user talk page edit. I'm not sure how I would react to a serious conflict; but I'd like to think I would remain rational. I've changed County Derry to County Londonderry numerous times. As as an Irish person, that would be anathema - but policy trumps politics and other emotionally-inspired ideals. We are to educate, not indoctrinate. Thanks for your time and input, Balloonman. I've appreciated your input since I first started "lurking" around RfA discussions many moons ago.
:To Rockfang: I have no intention of touching the File CSD category with a ten foot wiki-pole. The file rules are "greek to me" and I would seriously need to bone up on the rules before I engaged myself there. Fribbler (talk) 22:47, 6 August 2009 (UTC)

Soft boiled eggs

I was asking if it safe to chill soft boiled eggs if they would stay liquid. Heegoop, 3 May 2007 (UTC)

Thanks

Thanks for the references and your appreciation of my first article. Hello963 20 May08

AfD

Hi, thanks for the welcome. The following article was marked for deletion and then marked for rescue http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Omar_Al_Issawi I believe it meets requirements to stay and was wondering when the AfD tag can be removed. Once again thanks. —Preceding [User:1inthedesert comment added by 1inthedesert (

I also agree that it should stay. The AfD will last seven days at most. I will attempt to fix the article to ensure that it stays. Fribbler (talk) 20:37, 6 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Nice job, thanks. 1inthedesert (talk) 20:26, 7 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Request to participate in University of Washington survey on tool to quickly understand Wikipedians’ reputations

Hello. I'm part of a research group at the University of Washington. In April, we met with some local Wikipedians to learn what they would like to know about other editors’ history and activities (within Wikipedia) when interacting with them on talk pages. The goal of those sessions was to gather feedback to help design an embedded application that could quickly communicate useful information about other Wikipedians. We have now created a few images that we feel represent some of what our participants thought was important. We would appreciate it if you took a few minutes of your time to complete an online survey that investigates whether or not these images would be useful to you. Your quick contribution would be very valuable to our research group and ultimately to Wikipedia. (When finished, the code for this application will be given over to the Wikipedia community to use and/or adjust as they see fit.)

Willing to spend a few minutes taking our survey? Click this link.

Please feel free to share the link with other Wikipedians. The more feedback, the better! The survey is completely anonymous and takes less than 10 minutes to complete. All data is used for university research purposes only.

Thank you for your time! If you have any questions about our research or research group, please visit our user page. Commprac01 (talk) 01:03, 10 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Dear helpful Fribbler! The link you provided looks like a fine source (good reading, certainly more than a militaria catalogue)! Once I check it and its author and get the citation content straightened out, I'll go back to those pages and patch in the reference. Still don't know much about the man, but it's the SS uniform-designer angle I'm trying to nail down at present. Many thanks!! -- Deborahjay (talk) 19:25, 20 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Tidying up

Hi,

I was attempting to update this article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Omar_Al_Issawi to which your contributions were crucial. I messed it up. This is what I was trying to do:

Add http://english.aljazeera.net/programmes/plohistoryofrevolution/ as a link for "A 6-part English-language version began airing on Al Jazeera English on July 13, 2009 under the title PLO: History of a Revolution"

Also add http://english.aljazeera.net/programmes/plohistoryofrevolution/2009/07/200975115813478323.html as a link to after "Al-Issawi penned a "making of" article to go with the program"

And finally http://english.aljazeera.net/focus/2009/05/2009527115531294628.html at the end of this sentence: "Al-Issawi has been an occasional analyst for Al Jazeera's English-language channel, commenting on Lebanese affairs, and has contributed to its website".

You assisted graciously before. Would you be kind enough to do so once again?

Thanks a lot. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 1inthedesert (talkcontribs) 08:29, 13 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sory I took so long to reply. Sometimes my talk page manages to slip my mind. :-) I've edited the external links. Additional citations were not needed in 2 cases, and in the other you added the ref just fine. Fribbler (talk) 16:38, 6 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Your RfA

Regardless of whether or not your RfA passes, I would recommend taking a look at WP:WIHSD. The speed at which you tagged some items had me somewhat concerned, eg within minutes of the articles creation, but as there was nothing that jumped out at me as incorrect I didn't hold that against you. I just want you to be congnizant of the reasons why people have negative interactions with Speedy Deleters and understand how you might be able to emerge among the best of the CSD'ers rather than the worst. I definitely see the potential in you, I just don't see enough to assuage my concerns.---Balloonman NO! I'm Spartacus! 21:55, 6 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
