Romani people in Croatia

Roma are an ethnic group in Croatia for more than 600 years and they are concentrated mostly in the northern regions of the country. According to the 2001 census, there were 9,463 Roma in Croatia or 0.2% of the population. Unofficial estimations counts 18,000 to 300,000 Roma (under it 131,000 Sinte) or approximately 0.5 to 7 % of the total population. The most important Roma organization is the Croatian Roma Union. Many Croatian Roma, as well as the members of other minority groups like Serbs and Jews, have been murdered by the ustasha during the Second World War.
