Untitled

Til the Casket Drops is the third studio album by American hip hop duo Clipse, released December 8, 2009 on Re-Up Records in the United States. It features production from The Neptunes, DJ Khalil & Chin, and Sean C and LV.[11][12][13] The first single for the album is entitled "I'm Good", and features Pharrell of The Neptunes.[14] The album was preceded by a mixtape called Road To Till The Casket Drops, available December 1, 2008 through complex.com.[15] Featured guests include Kanye West, Keri Hilson, Pharrell, Cam'ron, Ab-Liva and Yo Gotti.[16] The album's cover artwork was designed by artist KAWS.

Reception

The album has had generally favorable reviews. The collaborations with Cam'ron, Kanye West, and Yo Gotti have been praised. Clipse intricate wordplay is still intact. The Clipse gained much acclaim for expanding their subject matter. Their musical tone has shifted significantly from the dark undertones of Hell Hath No Fury to the feel good mood reminiscent of Lord Willin'.

The album has been met with some negative reviews, disapproving of the Clipse's aim for a more commercial album. Particularly, Keri Hilson's and Pharrell's contribution "All Eyes On Me" has garnered harsh critiques.[17] There is also a mixed response to the production delivered by the Neptunes. Critics feel the Neptunes gave tired production, favoring the minimalist approach of Hell Hath No Fury. [18] At the same time, many boost of the more full, diverse and upbeat backdrops provided by the Neptunes.

Almost unanimous is the warm reception of the productions by DJ Khalil & Chin, and Sean C & LV. Their collaborations were widely anticipated (Clipse not having worked with anyone other than The Neptunes.) Many critics feel those collaborations are the strongest on the album.

Till The Casket Drops debuted at #41 on the Billboard Charts with 31,364 copies sold.[1]
